General George S. Patton fought in the Mexican campaign and World War I before leading the Third Army Division across German-occupied territory in World War II, capturing over half the German Army. Field Marshal Erwin Rommel commanded the 7th Armored Division in France in 1941 and the North Afrika Korps for two years, earning his nickname "Desert Fox" before being forced out of Africa. General Bernard Montgomery defeated Rommel in North Africa and forced him to change his tactics, but Montgomery's later campaigns in Europe were less successful, such as the failed Operation Market Garden.
