World War II involved Germany led by Adolf Hitler launching air raids against Britain in 1940 known as the Battle of Britain lasting 57 days, in an attempt to take over Britain and prevent the USA from entering the war, however the USA later joined in 1941 after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, and in 1944 the Allied forces launched D-Day and eventually Germany surrendered in 1945 after Hitler died.
