CHENNAI: Socialites flaunted their best Satya Paul designer wear at the launch of the store’s
latest bridal collection recently, held at the brand’s Express Avenue store at Royapettah. Wine, a
variety of finger food and conversation were in liberal flow in the run-up to the appearance of
guest of honour, actor Gouthami Tadimalla. When Gouthami did arrive in an exquisite water
colour Satya Paul creation herself, the event began with the customary lighting of the lamp. She
said, “I’ve been buying saris from Satya Paul for the last 20 years.” And went on to add to Jyothi
Narula, MD Genesis Colours, “In fact just before I got here I was going through my wardobe and
found a piece that my mother bought for me at least 20 years ago.” No doubt, the sari has stood
the test of time and, as Gouthami pointed out, stayed as “good as new”.
Also present was the actress’s daughter Subbulakshmi, sporting a chic short hairstyle just like her
mother, who said, “I definitely want to get into acting and I have read some scripts….” before
being whisked away by another guest.
Brides-to-be can look forward to a trousseau of 9-yard saris, lehengas, anarkalis and more in a
rich colour palette of passion red to ivory to peaches and pink. Enticing fabrics ranging from
French lace, and elegant nets to condensed georgettes add to the versatility of the collection.
