2. Approaches of Research
There are two basic approaches to research
1. Quantitative approach
2. Qualitative approach
3. Quantitative approach
It involves the generation of data in quantitative
form which can be subjected to rigorous
quantitative analysis in normal form.
This approach can further classified into-
A. Inferential approach
B. Experimental approach
C. Simulation approach
4. Inferential approach
The purpose of inferential approach is to form a
data base to infer characteristics or relationship.
It means survey research where a sample of
population is studied (observed) to determine its
characteristics, and it is than inferred that
population has same characteristics.
5. Experimental approach
It is characterized by greater control over the
research environment and in this case some
variables are manipulated to observed their effect
on other variables
6. Simulation approach
It involves the construction of an artificial
environment within which relevant information
and data can be generated.
It permits an observation of the dynamic behavior
of a system(or its subsystem) under controlled
condition.
It refers operation of numerical models that
represents a structure of a dynamic process.
Given the value of initial conditions ,parameters
and exogenous variables ,a simulation is run to
represent the behavior of the process overtime.
7. Qualitative approaches
This approach to research is concerned with
subjective assessment of attitude ,opinions and
behaviors.
Research in such situation is function of
researchers insight and impressions.
this research generates results either in non
quantitative form the form or in the form which is
not subject to rigorous quantitative analysis.
It includes techniques Focus group interview,
projective techniques, and depth interview.
