1. Steve Jobs Resigns as the CEO of Apple
August 24, 2011. It is almost at the same time today that the news of the resignation of Steve Jobs,
the CEO of Apple, swarmed into the headlines on various websites in the world, and has caused
large attention on the great person and the company.
"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and
expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has
come. "
2. According to the resignation letter, Steve Jobs attributed the quit to no longer meeting duties and
expectations. But we all understand that he had contributed much to the world technology, which
has changed our daily life dramatically.
I think Art Levinson, the Chairman of Genentech, on behalf of Apple's Board, spoke to the point
on Steve: "Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as
the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company. Steve has made countless
contributions to Apple’s success and he has attracted and inspired Apple’s immensely creative
employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will
continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration. "
During the 14 years reigns as CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs has been a magic person who made Apple
a legendry. His innovative work made high-end personal computer more popular and he also
played a vital role in reshaping the music, video, games, and mobile phone business. He always
surprises the customers to give us the fullest satisfaction on using the high tech products.
3. Even there were rumors saying that his health began to fail, Mr. Jobs still turned up at the key
product launches—the introduction of the iPad 2 in March this year at WWDC, where he earned
successive applause and esteem. His slim figure aroused the spectators concern of his health again.
His bad health might be a large reason explains his sudden resignation today.
Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and
professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online
store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and has
recently introduced iPad 2 which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices.
All of the successes are due to Steve Jobs.
I think iPad has changed our way of life; it’s a great innovation besides personal computers. As
long as we own an iPad, we’ll take it as an easy little laptop, but such little case seems more
powerful and magical than those laptops. It satisfied our lust to the maximization.
4. Holding on an iPad, we may feel enjoying life can be so easy. On one hand, iPad is a big iPod
touch; listening to iPad music is a feast for ears and eyes with its large screen and the best sound
quality. On the other hand, iPad is a big e-book reader; the convenient multi-touch design has
changed our reading habits. It’s nice to read the iPad books at leisure time over a coffee. Not to
mention the games and videos. All are fantastic.
"I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to
watching and contributing to its success in a new role," Jobs wrote in his letter. "I have made
some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to
work alongside you."
We don’t know what Apple will be in the future, but the legendry era of a great man has come to
the end. Pray Steve Jobs a good health and Apple a bright future.
