CPU : Stands for central
processing unit. It is the
brain of computer. It is also
called a processor. It carries out
most of the work of a computer.
Most of the work consists of
calculations and data transfer.
CPU consists of two basic units
called ALU and CU.
5. MONITOR
Monitor is most common
output device. It is also
known as display or
screen. The output
displayed by monitor is
called soft copy. A
monitor looks like a
television and it displays
text and graphics. The user
looks at monitor while
performing different task
such as typing and issuing
different commands etc.
6. LCD
LCD stands for liquid
crystal display. LCD
screen contain a
substance called liquid
crystal. The molecules of
this substance line up in
such a way that light
behind the screens
allowed to create an
image.LCD displays
require less power.
7. KEYBOARD
Keyboard is the most
commonly used input
device . Data is mostly
entered using a keyboard.
The buttons on the
keyboard are called keys.
A keyboard contains over
100 keys. The arrangement
of keys on keyboard is
called its layout. The most
popular keyboard layouts is
QWERTY.
8. MOUSE
Mouse is a popular
pointing device. It is used
to input instructions with a
pointer on the screen. A
mouse have three buttons.
These buttons are used to
perform different tasks
such as selecting an object
or opening a program etc.
9. SPEAKERS
Speaker produces audio
output. These devices
produce music, speech or
other sounds like beep etc.
Many personal computers
have internal speakers. The
quality of internal speakers is
not very high. Some monitors
also contain speakers on their
sides called woofer or
subwoofer.
10. Computer is a great invention. It is used in every
work field of life. It makes our life or work very
easy. It can calculate millions, billions, trillions of
instruction in a few seconds. Only calculation is
not a use of computer but it also used for different
purposes. It has changed the way of life.
