• Going to therapy does not mean you are ill or weak
• The most common problems dealt with at PsyCaD are academic stress, relationship
issues, depression, anxiety, trauma debriefing, and stress management.
• Free for enrolled students
• Counsellors are all registered psychologists or intern psychologists
• Short-term therapy (however this depends on the nature of the problem)
• A client can either be referred or approach PsyCaD him/herself
• Appointment-basis
• Walk-in/Advisory service also available (15-min session)
6. PsyCaD CRISIS LINE SUPPORT
• 24-hour service
• Services available to UJ students and staff
YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM THE INTERN PSYCHOLOGIST:
• Telephonic assistance with possible follow up face-to-face counselling
• Referrals to emergency services on campus (Protection Services or Campus Health) and off-campus
(Police and Ambulance Services)
• Recommendations and referrals to various organisations to assist
