Indian Constitution has provided several rights to the people to protect their fundamental rights, but unfortunately, most people are not aware of their rights.
2. •We all know that the Indian Constitution is very intricate, and
complex due to which many of us are not aware of our rights.
•Basic laws should be known to every citizens in our country.
•Try to keep these basic laws in our mind.
3. • Accidents involving gas cylinders cover size 40lakh:
• If your cylinder explodes you are entitled to rupees 40 lakh cover.
many of us are unaware that the domestic LPG consumer person has
entitled to a cover of rupees 40 lakh in case of loss of life or damage
to property due to cylinder explosion. The compensation varies from
case to case and may be diminished by reason of claimants' own fault
like improper use, tinkering with a device, etc.
4. • If you have a son you cant adopt another:
• The Hindu adopt and maintenance act,1956 states that if
you have a Hindu son or a son's son you cannot adopt
another one. same rules for a daughter. And the minimum
age gap should be between 21 years gap between the child
and the adopter.
5. • 3 months in jail for Public Display of Affection(PDA):
• PDA within its limits is allowed. But any obscene activity is
punishable by Law up to 3months. Since the word "obscene"
has not been defined so exclude hugging, kissing of the
couple. Although the couple is harassed by policemen.
6. • A police officer is always on duty:
• The 1861 Police Act, clearly states that the police officer is always on
duty. If he/she witnesses an act of crime or if an incident is brought
to their knowledge they can't say I am not in duty. They are entitled
to some rest because of the hard work that they put into their work.
7. • Live-in-relationships are not illegal:
• As long both are adults live-in-relationships are not illegal. Moreover,
live-in-relationships are considered to be equal to marriage if certain
conditions are met. Also, children born out of live-in-relationships
have the right to inherit their parent's property.
8. • Head Constable has limited prosecution power:
• No Head Constable can fine you for any offense which presently has
a penalty for more than rupees 100. But the violation of more than
one rule can result in a challan or higher value.
9. • Women can lodge complaints through emails:
• Guidelines issued by the Delhi police entitle women to privilege for
registering a complaint via email or even through the post if she can't
go to the police station. The senior police officer then sent the email
or registered post to the station house officer of the area of crime for
proper verification of the document so that an FIR can be lodged.
10. • Unmarried couples can stay together in hotels:
The Hotel Association of India that manages 280 hotels in India says
that there is no such rule that denies admission to unmarried
couples in a hotel in India.
11. • A couple cannot file divorce within a year of marriage:
• Under Section-14 of the Hindu Marriage Act ,1955 a couple cannot
register a petition for divorce within a year of marriage. However, if
the High Court feels that the petitioner is experiencing immense
problems then the former can permit to file for a divorce.
12. • You can ask for water and washroom for free in any
hotel:
• According to Indian Sarais Act, 1867 any individual can ask for water
free of charge from any hotel at any time for themselves and their
pets. For more, you can use the washroom for free and no one can
stop them. It is your right to demand water from any hotel at any
time.
