• Biblical scholars: ”continual sacrifice offering"

15. THE CITY OF THYATIRA
Name: “continual sacrifice offering”
The Catholic Church sees
the Mass or Eucharist as
"the source and summit of
the Christian life", to which
the other sacraments are
oriented.
The Catholic Church believes that the Mass is
exactly the same sacrifice that Jesus Christ
offered on the Cross at Calvary.
16. THE CITY OF THYATIRA
Name: “continual sacrifice offering”
Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us
continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God,
that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His
name.

THE CITY OF THYATIRA
• More trade-guilds were listed in this city
than for any other city in the region.

every Christian in Thyatira

meaningful to even the pagans. They have
become mere ritual.
• We know the gods are nothing.
• Participation gives us the opportunity to be

• Our spirit matters more than our body.
• If we do not participate we will not only be
persecuted and left out, we will lose all
relevance to the city and the guilds.
26. Commercially:
THE CITY OF THYATIRA
• Thyatira specialized in “purple” dye made

• Lydia, a citizen of
Thyatira and a

who converted to
Christianity (Acts
