The theatre of Pergamum is incredibly steep and it was initially designed during
the reign of the kings of Pergamum. It was enlarged by the Romans so that with
its 80 rows of seats it could accommodate an audience of 10,000. In order to
facilitate the access of the public a long colonnaded street (its path is still visible)
led to the lowest section of the theatre.
