2. What is it The 180° rule states that when two or more people are talking there is a imaginary line between the actors. The camera should always stay on one side of the line in order to keep the actors facing the same direction. This should also stop the viewer becoming disorientated. When the rule is broken the actors seem to have switched positions and are facing the opposite ways. This should also stop the viewer becoming confused and disorientated. The one time this line can be crossed is if the audience sees the camera move across the line. This is also the same principal as the actor not walking into the shot the same angle they walked out.
