5. What attracts me to this genre?
The reason I'm attracted to the psychological thriller genre is mainly due to the storyline
and actors, for example when shutter island was advertised i first noticed that Leonardo
DiCaprio was in it, this then drew me in to see what the film was about. Leonardo DiCaprio
played the role of Teddy Daniels a u.s Marshall who was assigned to go to
Boston's shutter island hospital to investigate a disappearance, he especially wanted this
Assignment due to personal reasons, he soon realises after not being there long that the
Treatments given by the doctors are illegal and sinister. Soon the film starts to become more in
Depth and twisted when the audience start to think is Teddy a u.s Marshall or a patient at the
Hospital. When it ended i still was unsure whether teddy was a patient or if the doctors made
Him think he was. After watching it, it Became one of my favourite films. the storyline i
thought was very clever throughout watching it i was trying to figure out what the
twist was going to be i never expected it to end how it did, It left me shocked and rather
impressed with Martin Scorsese and how brilliantly Leonardo DiCaprio played the role.
6. What makes me go to watch these
films?
• Stars- As you can see from the films i have chosen they each have very well
know actors in them such as; Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jake Gyllenhaal.
This is one of the reasons why I was drawn to these films, I know that all of
them have played parts in other films amazingly and have won awards so i
expect to watch i film they are in and be convinced of the role they are playing.
•story- The story line to a film plays an important part on whether i go to watch the
it or not. My chosen genre is psychological thriller so if i watch a film of this genre i
know that i will be getting a puzzling film i can really get in to and have to properly
think about. A perfect example is Donnie Darko you have to pay attention
throughout and it makes you have to think, i loved this film because i never expected
what was going to happen at the end.
