Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a life-threatening illness caused by toxins produced during certain bacterial infections, most commonly Staphylococcus aureus and Group A streptococcus. TSS results in a sudden onset of high fever along with low blood pressure and organ failure. Early diagnosis and treatment with antibiotics is important to prevent serious complications from this potentially fatal condition.
