Critical Discourse Analysis
(M. phil. Linguistics)
My analysis is on presentation base.
Aim to analyze this video is to highlight hidden
meanings that are laying in this video.
The song is started with the look of a classroom.
Three boys entered in the classroom to take their
lunch.
In first sight they look very decent.
They are exited about their lunch boxes which shows
that they feel hunger.
The usual dish of aloo andy make them angry and
they frowned to look at one another.
It shows that they want change from the monotony of
life.
At this point we feel soft corner, in our feelings,
for them.
Now they look like downtrodden of the society.
Now we feel that they have decided to
become rebel of the society.
Their mood is enthusiastic.
We can see that there is a slight difference between the two
pictures.
In first one there is darkness but the second looks bright.
The unknown light shows there absolute resolution.
Now the scythe satire is going to start.
The singers show their hate for the cheapest dish of
“aloo andy” and they want to eat chicken with Naan
( bread yeast has risen).
Behind the singer, on whiteboard, there is written:
“Risk Shaw is coming soon !”
May these words stimulate the new generation.
Now they are firm in their determination that they will
not eat aloo andy rather than chicken:
“even chicken becomes cheap without reason”
It also shows that we ,as a generation, are more
eager to eat meat may it has positive or negative
effects on our health, because it is in fashion these
days.
The standing position of the young guys reflects that
they are leaving back their study.
There is no more need to become educated because, in
Pakistan, it is not count for a successful life.
May it also reflects that the most of the classrooms of
Pakistani schools are empty(without teacher).
We have chairs, dices, white boards, fans and other useable
things in our classrooms except teachers.
The appearance of the three guys shows carelessness.
They decided that now they will not follow the discipline
more because it is useless in this type of society.
The red painted eyes of the singer shows his bloody
nature and high state of wrath against society.
Darkness of his eyes may reflects starvation, negligence
and poorness.
The crossed painted boxes represent the flag which is the
symbol of snow sliding and snow melting
It means that the snow of impassiveness is melting from
new generation now a days.
It may reflects that the young generation is not become
sleepless any more.
The roughly dresses of guys show carelessness and
violence of rules by the young generation.
But the white color of shirts and black color of pants
reflect that they can be peaceful if they are treated
according to their demand.
The English subtitle of the song create universality in it.
It may be a message from the young generation of
Pakistan for all over the world.
I will eat a piece of chicken;
with bread that yeast has risen;
even if chicken become cheap without reason…...
These verses are shown at the bottom of the video.
We can see that there are rhythmic words at the end of the
lines.
It shows uniformity of thoughts presented in the lines.
Likeness of chicken by the young is very strict
and they are not agree to disqualify to their
desire.
In the line shown the word “KOJAKS” is derived from an
American T.V series in which KOJAK was a title character.
KOJAKS
The word ‘Kojak’ is metaphorically used for Sharif
brothers.
This is the symbol of power and authority.
They have occupied on the throne in election 2013 by
overlapping the two parties PTI and PPP.
Central
character of
the play.
The red painted eyes and a white line are may be the
symbols of KOJAK color.
May these colors indicate PTI flag.
Here the word ‘CJ’ represents the Chief Justice of
Pakistan, who is willing to look ultimate conquest of
Sharif Brothers in election 2013.
The chief election Commission of Pakistan is afraid that his
job position is in danger.
There is talking on extension in election that is why Chief
Election Commission of Pakistan is stunned.
When the singer says: “chief has gone into hibernation”,
He became silent for some time.
It shows that his body language is matched to his wording.
In the line “Where Qadri is treated like a royal” qadri is
reffered to Mumtaz Qadri who killed the governer of Punjab
province on the issue of Toheen-e-Risaalat.
Where Qadri is
treated like a royal.
He was a murderer but appreciated as ‘hero’ of the
Nation.
This shows paradoxical nature of our people.
Ajmal Kasaab was a member of the Lashkar-e-
Taiba(Islamist group).
He was charged to take part in the 2008 Mumbai
attacks in India.
When he says “Ajmal kasaab is a hero” he looks
fearful.
It shows uncertainty of the standard about royalty
among us.
One who preaches the people, try to run away stealthily.
It is mockery on the religious figures.
What is the place of a scientist in the country such as
Pakistan?
We ignore them who protect us ……………….
We protect them who ignore us………………..
It may a possible future of PML-N when G-Kyani will
get over power on the state.
May be N league hanged out in near future as shown in
the picture.
If we want to free our Judiciary it is not possible
until and unless we sweep out the PPP from the
scene.
Tahreeke Insaaf is not more a goodlooking Jamat-
e- islami.
 Who cannot play any important role in the progress of
the country.
Zionism (Arabic: ‫صهيونية‬ ,Șahyouniyyah) is a form
of nationalism of Jews and Jewish culture that supports
a Jewish nation state in the territory defined as the Land
of Israel.
May it refers to the regaining the identity of sub-continent
India as Jews are considered to be owner of Palestine.
May it satires that we are Muslims by birth but Jews by
nature.
If we have money of others in our pockets then how
we can became good friends.
It is a very bitter satire on unequal distribution of
wealth among people of Pakistan.
It may criticizes us that we as nation just believe on two
super power 1. Military and 2. religious leaders.
These two figures always remain dominant on us as
nation.
The white sugar is sold in black(black marketing).
Even we cannot get a white thing in white manner(legal
way).
The politicians of Pakistan attract the public by their fake
slogans and attractive speeches.
 like American macaws which attract the viewers by their
bright eye catching colors.
There is no allegation on black water to attack the
northern areas
But it is the matter of inner disputes and dissatisfactions.
We, as a nation, couldn’t state balance between demand
and supply even after 66 years.
Necessities are
always higher than
ground sources
Thieves are killing by their minor mischievous.
But what about the Police??????
They are snatchers as well as protectors.
The liking of the axe, with which eggs and potatoes are to
cut, is presenting the power relationship between
authority and defenseless people of Pakistan.
This ironical statement again mocks the poor judicial
system.
He says if you like this video it will bring a disaster for me.
