Fragile X is the most common known genetic cause of autism. Over $58,000 has been raised in the past 6 years and the goal for this year is to raise an additional $10,000. 2013 7th Annual Walk for Fragile X
Please join us for the 7th Annual “Walk for Fragile X”. It will be held on
Saturday, June 22nd at the Tulpehocken Jr/Sr High School Stadium in
Bernville, PA. Fragile X is the most common known genetic cause of
autism, and the leading cause of inherited mental impairment, yet not
many people know about it. As many of you know, our daughters Skylar
and Silver have Fragile X Syndrome and we organize the Walk For Fragile X
in their honor.
In the past 6 years, $58,000 has been raised !! Our goal this year is to
raise an additional $10,000. The money will be donated to the National
Fragile X Foundation as well as the FRAXA Research Foundation, two
non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations to help with awareness, education
and to support scientific research aimed at finding a treatment and a cure
for Fragile X.
There are several ways you can help:
Be a walker! Ask others to donate/sponsor you and then come walk as
much as you can from 10am-11am. Enclosed is a list of additional
ideas to raise money. There will be activities for kids such as face
painting, balloon animals, temporary tattoos and foam crafts.
Please pre-register prior to the event by using the form on the
enclosed brochure (please complete a registration form for
each person attending the walk) and return it to us before May
24th. This helps us make sure we have the right amount of
T-Shirts available. The pledges you collect are not due until the
day of the walk. Raise at least $20 and get a Walk for FX T-shirt!
Be a volunteer! If you’re not able to walk, but would like to help in
another way before, during or after the event, please let us know.
Make a donation! For those of you who may not be able to attend the
walk, but would still like to make a donation, any amount counts.
You may make checks payable to Walk for Fragile X or if you want
your donation to be tax deductible, checks should be made
payable directly to The National Fragile X Foundation or FRAXA.
