Film Opening – Initial ideas
 Genre - Crime thriller – a heist/robbery
 Someone (probably a nerdy/geeky man) who’s been creating new
exclusive softwarehe’s created on his laptop that allows people to be
tracked wherever they go in the world
 I thought I’d setit out with a shot of this guy making a deal to hand over
the memory stick, with the softwareon, to a dodgy man in return for
cash. But he realises he’s left it at home.
 I’d like to then havea shotof him rushing back home fromthis place
(walking, or cycling) to retrieve the laptop
 However, meanwhilehis travel back, his houseis being robbed so I’m
going to make it so that there will be an establishing shot of his house
and then two guys breaking in
 Then it will flick back to him still travelling back home in a rush
 Then the two guys trashing the place in search of the memory stick –
here I will include lots of shots of rummaging through drawers and store
cupboards etc.
 I then want them to find it and flee fromthe housequickly
 I might even have it so that the one holding the memory stick is shot by
their partner in crime so they don’thave to sharethe reward money for
the robbery
 Then I want the man to return to his trashed home and find that the
laptop is missing – he knows his life is now on the line if he doesn’tget
the laptop back and give it to the dodgy man he was meeting
 I’vegotthis idea that maybe the guy who he’s selling the softwareto,
tells him he has 30 minutes to go back home and fetch the software, or
he’ll be killed – so I could include shots of a stopwatch counting down
the minutes, and then it beeps when he realises it’s been taken
 Some of the shots in my opening may look a bit like this:
