4. INTRODUCTION-
Viral hepatitis is a global public health problem of epidemic
proportions that caused 13.4 lakhs deaths in 2015 a number
comparable to deaths caused by tuberculosis and higher than
those caused by HIV. it is estimated that in India,
approximately 4 crores are chronically infected by hepatitis B
and 0.6 -1.2 crores with hepatitis C.
Definition-
Viral hepatitis is an infection that causes liver
inflammation and damage. Inflammation is swelling
that occurs when tissues of the body become injured
or infected.
