supporters
• Peter Drucker: “…The only definition of a
leader is someone who has followers.”
• Leadership is a relationship between the
leader and his or her followers
• In the church context a follower is someone
who is able and willing to follow leadership to
accomplish the ministry’s mission

• Ability and willingness deal with the follower’s
knowledge, skills, and experience
• Readiness has four stages:
• Stage 1–Early Followers: Quick to respond
• Stage 2–Middle Followers: Eventually respond
• Stage 3-Late Followers: Very Slow to respond
• Stage 4-Never Followers: Will not respond
