1. OST 181 Course Project
Over the semester, you will be required to work on and complete this course project.
There are several steps that together will be your final project. The following are the steps and
their instructions:
1. Step One: Choose a job/career that you would like to have. In a document, tell me the job
position your chose; using bullets, list the reasons why you chose this position and why
you would like to have this job/career.
2. Step Two: Research and find a job description for the position that you chose in step one.
You may find this online or from a local office. In a document, copy and paste or type in
the full job description. Include skills, education and experience required for the position.
3. Step Three: Chose one of the following: 1. Interview someone who currently works in the
position you chose. You must have a minimum of 20 questions. Write a three page report
including your questions and answers and a summary of your thoughts about the
interview and job. OR: 2. Job shadow someone who currently works in the position you
chose. Write a two-page paper summarizing what you did, learned, etc. while job
shadowing.
4. Step Four: Research the average salary for this job in this area. In a document, list the
average salary and your thoughts on the salary for this position. Is it better or worse than
you thought? Does it change your opinion of the job?
5. Step Five: Final Project. Using the information that you have found in your research
write a 3-4 page report. Summarize your findings and end the report with your final
thoughts and goals about this job position.
