1. Reflection Paper On Life Philosophy
Life Philosophy Paper Introduction
Who you are fuels who you are as a counselor, however, I recognize that I cannot let my own
opinions, values, and beliefs cloud my care for others. Self–exploration and discovery should help to
keep me from imposing my belief system upon those that I care for. The personal values and
experiences I have developed over time will enable me to honestly empathize with many diverse
cultural belief systems. I am not one to judge or jump to conclusions, instead I like to listen to the
perspective of an individual and investigate their origins.

There are things that I would like to change whether that happens is another story. Honestly, I
thought I would have a list a mile long, but just three things have been somewhat hard. I shoulder the
emotional weight of the world, find myself terribly upset about injustice, disappointed in the
behavior of others, and internalize too much as though it is happening directly to me. I would not
seek to reduce my capacity for empathy, I only want to reduce the amount of emotion that I retain.
Holding onto everything I encounter is not healthy and that it can negatively affect me and my
relationships.
Currently society has been very hard on my emotional state and I imagine that many others feel the
same. Sometimes it feels that we have forgotten what it is like to be human, to be kind, and
empathetic. Only individual feelings matter and those feelings are so central that the feelings of
others pale in comparison. Presently people are doing a lot of talking and very little listening.
Empathy would change how people treat each other which would transform the world. Empathy and
multiculturalism go hand in hand and both are necessary. So often we villainize others because all
we perceive are the differences, we overlook the similarities. Multiculturalism exposes how we are all
different, empathy shows us that fundamentally we are very much the same.

2. What is philosophy? Why study it? What purpose does it have? How does it influence our lives?
According to Google, "philosophy is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and
existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline." But how does it influence us?
Why should we study it? What purpose will it serve – if we do?
Before we can understand the purposes that philosophy will serve. We must first understand why we
must study it and how it will influence us. We study philosophy so not to be taken in by
demagoguery. We study philosophy to train our minds to never fall victim to limiting our minds to
this phantasmagoria–paradigm that we call reality. We live in a world of let me see if I can change
your mind. Philosophy teaches us self–discipline in forming our views and opinions, while
identifying the areas we are weak in. "Philosophy is also important in getting us to defend our own
positions, to take other people's positions seriously, but still be able to self–correct, to be tolerant,
and to be good citizens" (Reese, 2014). Philosophy will influence us from the day we are born until
the day we die.
From our first moments on earth to our last moments on earth we are constantly being influenced by
someone else's philosophies. Our parents are our first demagogue – they gain popularity in our eyes
by playing on our emotions and passions as kids. In most cultures they use fictional characters such
as Santa Clause, The Ester Bunny, and The tooth

3. My Reflection Of My Personal Philosophy Of Life
Philosophy of Life In my short seventeen years, I have experienced a great multitude of feelings
towards my own personal experiences. My own reactions to the external circumstances that the
universe has thrown at me, and I do indeed mean thrown, have allowed me to grow as a young
woman and simultaneously allow me the privilege of looking at life through the lenses I wear
today. Because the way I perceive my life to date is how I have been able to assemble the three
things I value most in it: staying foolish, hungry and in love. Remembering the importance of these
have enabled me to find both success and happiness; and I know that I am doing my future self
proud by continuing to remember them. Firstly, I have always been acutely aware of...show more

I easily grow bored, and after the years have learned to stimulate my own mind. I enjoy setting
goals for myself and find them ten percent more attainable after the goal has been set; and when I
meet that goal, I set another. It is this idea of never settling, always pushing that has allowed me
to blossom into the person I am today. For instance, when I found myself in the top thirty five
percent of my class, I pushed myself to get to the top fifteen percent within two years. When I set
my goals for college and medical school, I do not limit myself to state schools; I push for
acceptance at the large private schools, too. It has become a habit of mine "To strive, to see, to
find, and not to yield" (70). Just as Lord Tennyson Alfred's Ulysses promised that he would not
settle, I expect the same for myself. I refuse to settle for mediocre, and I swear to always yearn for
the most out of life. I live by the idea that I must push myself the furthest every time, in order to
extract any sort of meaning from my work. There is no space for easy labor in my life, but I plan
to continue living a worth life living, with work worth doing. I will not subject myself to the
laziness that accompanies work one does not love because "There is no more dreadful punishment
than futile and hopeless labor" (146). No one understands this as well as Sisyphus of Albert Camus'
"The Myth of Sisyphus" who is forced to push a rock up a hill repeatedly

4. A. Philosophy as "trying to answer the Big questions of life.
Philosophy is complex and it is a big word for me and others, I suppose. The differing views of
these well known philosophers have both affected human's perspective and judgment of the truth and
reality. On the positive side, their philosophies are educational and revealing; but on the negative
point of view, they are sort of discouraging, confusing and divisive due to the fact that a number of
their theories in answering the Big questions of life are quite inconclusive and the absolute truth of
God has put to question as well.
I define philosophy as the dynamic vernacular of the human intellect in exploring, identifying, and
explaining the wisdom of God through what has been revealed in the creation (Metaphysics), the
reality and existence of God (Theology), the beginning and nature of humankind (anthropology),
their capability of knowing (epistemology), their values and...show more content...

My Philosophy on Life
Do you ever wonder why you are put into situations that you don't know how to deal with? Would
it disappear if you just closed your eyes to the many lights that life produces? Well most cases it
doesn't, the light is shining in your eyes like the sun and you have to deal with it. Sometimes I
wonder why I act the way I do, and why I have to deal with situations that aren't always the most
comforting. You think you have something, but you realize that you have nothing on that onepiece
of life's puzzle. When you sit down to think in silence about the world revolving around you, you
realize that piece is near you. However, it is not close enough to grab with your hand or heart. You

because not everyone is the same, they are all unique people who are valuable in your life. You
meet everyone for a reason, it could be to help put together the puzzle, or help you find those
missing, imperfect pieces. Live life for yourself, don't think about what is right for everyone else
because you are the one who has to live life with the consequences. Be who you are and not what
others want you to become, you are a unique individuals who deserves nothing but the best. Life
is an experience that should be fun, not depressing. Always remember who you are because you
are you. This is how life was meant to be for you and you should live life to the fullest everyday.
You can never get back yesterday and you can't live for tomorrow. Day by day, you grow, live and

together with no missing pieces.
Knowing yourself

My Philosophy of Life
It has been said that a person's philosophy of life defines a lot about who they are, what they are
and how they perceive things. I am part of this school of thought. To me, my philosophy of life
guides my actions and how I relate to people. My beliefs and attitudes are impacted my philosophy
of life which is to make the most out of every opportunity I get. If I have an opportunity to learn, I
believe in learning everything there possibly can about a particular topic. I'm passionate about
what I set out to do, and every day I remind myself what I stand for and the goals I have set. I seek
growth in all areas of my life: relationships, academics, health fitness and finances. Generally, I
believe that my mantra is: Strive to be better always. I try hard not to look for excuses or
justifications for pat failures; I simply focus on being better in the future. I believe that one can
conquer seemingly difficult goals. My belief in treating others in a way that I'd like to be treated
myself is deeply rooted in Kant's categorical imperative (Cesarz, 2007). In this paper, I strive to
define metaphysics according to my view of the world around me, epistemology and ethics with
regard to the value of life.
On Metaphysics
I believe that reality is what we perceive it to be. The explanation of reality is limited to what our
minds perceive about reality itself. In simple terms, I believe that human beings are

teach me a lot of things, and I don't mean math or Science. It taught me communication,
responsibility and how to coop with real life situations. Then again it showed me things I didn't like
about our system, and "the peoples" philosophy on life. Everyone's different and what's most
important to someone can be least important to others.
From the first day of high school to the last, you're asked, "What do you want to do after high
school?". College is one of the popular topics behind this question. You sit their freshman year and
think I've got a long time until I've got to worry myself about grades, college, and finances.
Suddenly you blink your eyes and its senior year. When I was in the 6th grade I had some family

We did. I'm glad that because of the person I am and the city I am from, I had good
communication skills. I made lots of friends. It just wasn't like Texas. I Promised my best friend

theater performances. At this young age your whole life is surrounded by one thing, School. So I

8. Life Essay : The True Meaning Of Life
Life as we know it could vanish within seconds. The next day is not promised to anyone that
walks on this earth. As we live our everyday lives peacefully, we tend not to think what our
mission or purpose in life is. Instead, we think what we must do for that to be a "successful" person.
Despite this way of thinking, just think for a second. What makes life meaningful? What is life
anyway? These questions dive right into the heart of the philosophical, psychological, and the
biological aspects of life and what the true meaning of life is. This is a very arguable topic due to
every person's different perspective on life and what it means to them. In summary, I personally
think that life is simply what you make of it and each person's accomplishments has its own merit
What is life? That is a question that every human being has asked. Some might say it is merely just
going to work every day and doing the things needed to survive. Others might say that life is a
meaningful amount of time on Earth that is spent nurturing and caring for the ones you love. Both
outlooks are not wrong.
Biology of Life
Life starts out as a fetus in the mother's womb. This process lasts about 40 weeks. The 40 weeks
are broken up into three trimesters. It begins with a stage called conception. This is when the sperm
cell fertilizes the egg creating a zygote (the developing individual produced from such a cell). The
zygote divides into many cells which is then rooted in the uterus. This is called a fetus

9. My Goals Of My Life: My Philosophy Of Life
My philosophy is to enjoy life and try to make it better for those around me. My early life can be
summarized easily; I was born a plain white haired blue eyed Ohioan child. Most people just see
me as an ordinary teenager, but the truth is they do not see the real me. Just enjoying life to the
fullest while I am young is one of my goals and bringing joy to those around. Like everyone else my
plan is to get a job, get married, buy a house, start a family, simple, though my life has only lasted
seventeen years so far I lived a semi–eventful life. The date of my birth began with an early crisp
morning at Southern Ohio Medical Center or SOMC, ironically where my mother worked then
and now. The date was May fifteenth, the location was Portsmouth, Ohio, but I now live in
Vinton, Ohio. My parents and little sister accompany me in my household. My sister is my
complete opposite, I am quiet and reserved while she is loud and outgoing, we were opposites

10. Philosophy is Relevant to Everyday Life Essay
On a typical day, one would normally not think about existence, rational decisions, or the world
itself. All these concepts are relevant to philosophy and serve to tell us that philosophy is relevant to
everyday life, whether we are aware of it or not. Although we lack many answers about our universe,
we constantly ask questions that are related to philosophy. Such questions about virtue, value, and
life are the most important and the answers vary from human to human. In the book Sophie's World
by Jostein Gaarder, Sophie Amundsen's view of life and reasoning is altered as she makes her way
through a philosophy course that teaches her the significance of philosophy that she was unable to
see before. What makes us happy? According to...show more content...
In his case it meant that if a person wanted a hamburger, a perfect SAT score, and a magazine and
he would be considered happy. If the next item he desired was something unattainable, his level of
happiness would drop. Some philosophers such as Nietzsche are nihilists; everything to them is
an illusion and they do not believe in happiness. To a lot others, happiness would just be doing a
pleasurable activity or a hobby which is what I agree with. For a swimmer, the pleasurable
activity would most likely be swimming but for others, the activity varies. Thus, happiness is
part of everyday life that we desire, making philosophy a part of it too. Our imagination is utilized
all the time, whether we realize it or not. Whenever we make decisions, we imagine possible
consequences of each choice, whether the decision is an easy or a tough one. For example, one
could be indecisive about whether he or she wants to ditch class and hang out with friends or go to
class and miss out on it. Although we do not always make the right decisions, we make the one that
feels right to us. In our imagination, nothing is impossible. For example, one may think of purple
clouds and although this does not exist in actuality, it exists in our minds. Basically, whatever is
impossible is unimaginable. Not all humans have the same way of think and reason the same way
but "Heraclitus believed that there must be a kind of

11. My Personal Philosophy Of Life
Over the past seven weeks of being enrolled in the Philosophy class, I have learned about the
different aspects of life, the beliefs and behaviors of individuals. In this summary paper, I'm
going to be discussing topics such as, the nature of humankind, diagnosis of what is wrong with
humankind, the prescription for making it right, our intellectual difficulties or remaining
unresolved issues, my personal values and mission, organizational values and business ethics.
My personal philosophy of life is to live in peace with everyone, treating them the way I will like
to be treated, and believing in the God who created the universal. I'm a Christian who believes we
were all created by God in his own image, and that we are all equal, no matter what our status are
in life. In discussing the nature of humankind. When I was growing up as a child, there were so
many things I didn't understand about life. I found it very difficult to accept the fact that we
were all created by God. As I grew older, I started reading the Bible for myself and it helped me
understand the creation story in the book of Genesis. Then God said, "Let us make mankind in
our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky,
over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female
he created them (Genesis 1:26 & 27). His

12. Life Essay : Choosing The Right Path In Life
Choosing the Right Path in Life
Thorough out life we need to choose a path in life. This is the hardest decision we can make
because this is what determines our future and not choosing the right one can lead to poverty or
sadness for the rest of our lives. Choosing between our parents can be one decision but which parent
do we chose? We love both of them equally but how will they feel when you pick the other?
Another issue is choosing what to do with your life in total. Not all of us know what we want to
do in life and our parents just telling us to do what's best doesn't always help. Which path do we
take? How do we know what's better for us? Even having to choose can lead to sadness, so what do
we do?
What is best? This is a question that all of us ask ourselves throughout our life times numerous
times. Choosing what is best for us is hard because we don't know what will work out perfectly and
what we will fail to achieve. In the short story The Boat the only boy in the family is not being told
what to do. His parents have expectations for him to follow but it is his decision on which one to
chose. One parent will end up being disappointed but it is what the boy thinks is right to do. The boys
mother wants him to follow in her family's footsteps. She wants him to continue in the life of the
boat and not the city like his father wants him to. At the end of the day it is what the boy thinks is

Personal philosophy is something that plays a tremendous role in the life of every individual.
Everyone have a different point of view about life, we cannot expect everyone to have the same
philosophy of life. Philosophy of life will be different between each person. Two people will never
have the same philosophy of life. Individuals might share some similarities between their
philosophy of life but two people will never have the exactly same. I have a strong belief that
people develop and shape their own personal philosophy during their whole life. Sometimes we
might attempt to think that we already know our philosophy of life but there are some
circumstances that can totally change our view. I also believe that our age plays a tremendous role
in our philosophy of life. We cannot expect a twelve–year–old to have the same view of life as a
forty years old. In terms of my own philosophy I cannot truly say that I completely know my
entire personal philosophy of life but I know that now at this moment I am the one in charge of my
own philosophy about life. Even though I am 23 years old I still don't have my life completely
figured about. I know what I want to do and what are the goals that I would like to achieve but in
terms of my own philosophy about life I believe that God is in charge; and that our story about
life was already written even before we were born. I can wake up with many different types of ideas

putting yourself before others sometimes, or only living once, or believing in yourself. This

I am entering the medical field; so all the science courses I have taken have led me to believe that
science is the answer. However, after taking this course I have realized that science can only take
their answers just so far. There are some issues that science is unable to explain, like the existence
of God. This is where philosophy enters. Philosophy continues further and attempts to give us
logical explanations. Although science does continue to intrigue me, I do choose to accept that
science does give us some answers. We learn from experience. Growing up we test this very often.

This responsibility includes those of the personal and social nature. On a personal level, we have to
take care of ourselves and stay healthy and happy individuals. Socially I strongly believe in the
saying, do unto others, as you would like them to do unto you. Abiding by this rule helps society to
operate as smoothly as possible without too much conflict. Besides, it is not worth any minute of
our shirt lifetime to be unhappy or rude. We as humans are able to make conscious, individual
choice and take responsibility for our actions, beliefs, feelings and attitudes. And I believe that we
need to exercise these abilities.

20. Essay on The Meaning of Life
The Meaning of Life
My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from
which one can draw meaning, if indeed such meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there
can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned

life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so.

meaning but rather the quality of the story, the quality with which one lives out and develops his or
her role."
At the time, this event seemed rather insignificant and did not merit remembrance. However, its
catastrophic effects on my attitude that evening may have helped to mold me into the person I have
become. I learned that suffering through such an event, as childish as it was, is quite necessary in
any life. Such pains are part of an interminable cycle and only generate balance in one's life (p. 62,
'Life as Suffering'). Despite my horrid time spent that evening, the laughter brought since the incident
is a worthy tradeoff. Laughter is an all too necessary function of life, just as suffering and the wide
range of other emotions. "Some thinkers would emphasize the importance of sophistication in
humor, but others would say that laughter itself is what is important." Whatever the case may be,
laughter is an important ingredient in life, and must not be taken for granted nor ignored.
Despite such emotional ties to life, I have also learned that life is not only about emotions. Those
emotions are generated from the chain reactions created endlessly in
