One Direction was one of my favorite Boy Bands, but they took a break and now I focus myself

I am an avid reader and reading has been my favorite hobby for a great deal of my life. This is
probably because my parents value literacy and they have almost always encouraged me to read.

I have many hobbies that I fill my time with. I enjoy reading. Ever since I was little my dad has

This guy was running at a slightly fast pace than I was and being the competitive runner I am, I
was making sure I was behind him just enough to later overtake him when the time is right.
Because he was running at a faster pace, I was staring at his feet and my legs automatically
copied his without me knowing. I think I spent the majority of the run in a trance state just me
staring at his feet which felt like ages when in reality it was only 2 minutes. After overtaking him

This is one of my most memorable experiences because we were just hauling fish after fish into the

I was just a young lad of 22 when I drank my first sips. Oh, My Gosh, it was so good; I ended up
so bombed that I spent the night next to a porcelain God. I swore I would never drink that stuff
ever again. Who would have known that many years later that boozy concoction called "Hard
Cider" would become the new and trendy drink? It is without a doubt, the Nectar of the Gods. My
favorite hobby is micro brewing beer. I have been producing craft beer for five years now. Half of
my two –car garage is in reality, a kitchen with dozens of pots, pan, tanks, fermentation chambers
and burners, all sorts of wicked machinery staged about the place to produce fermented beverages.
I recently read in some beer journals that cider is making a comeback in the craft brewing market.
The idea of producing this sweet drink motivated me to try my own recipe. After all, how could I
go wrong since I had the experience brewing beer? So I decided, without much experience, to give
it a shot. I rounded up the ingredients; three kinds of apple juice, lots of sugar, and some
Champagne Yeast. I heated the juice into a stockpot to kill any germs or other nasties that may be

Reading And Writing : My Favorite Skills
Over the years that I have been in school, reading and writing have not been my favorite skills.
Although recently I have become a very good reader and a much better writer than I was before.
There are certain branches of writing that I excel at, like argumentative or persuasive, which I
enjoy because I love telling people that they're wrong and explaining why they should do things.
However, I'm not as great at say, coming up with a story in which I have to make up characters
and a plot. In reading, I try to get and read books that I'm interested in, but when they are boring
books and topics or stories that don't interest me, I struggle to find a drive to read whatever it is.
One thing that I take pride of in my writing is my vast vocabulary, but it wasn't always like that.
Previously in elementary school, I wrote run on sentences which would sometimes get to 30 words
with no commas. But obviously that changed as I proceeded into middle school, and one of the main
reasons of that was Mrs.Schwerin's class. In her class was really when I understood sentence
structure, the use of commas, and when certain marks are appropriate or not. Another thing that
makes my writing better is my organization. I always have different topics in their own paragraphs

Since being a child, reading used to be my favorite hobby. I would immerse myself in fiction and
dive into the fantasy world. I loved the idea of getting lost in a story and forgetting all my
troubles. I would read almost any book that I picked up. My favorite genres included fiction,

I have always been a visual learner. That is why I am great at Math: Teachers usually work with
the student, writing the problems on the board and solving them. It is the opposite for English:
English teachers do not give examples of how to write or put ideas together. Watching someone do
something is easier for me. That is how I learned to cook at such a young age.
As a child, my parents never physically taught me how to cook. I would watch my Mom and Dad
cook dishes that are native to them. I would watch my Dad make Adobo, filling the air with a
lovely smell of salt and vinegar. I would watch my Mom make Pozole, moving in the kitchen like
Taz, never stopping to rest. I would watch what ingredients they use; noticing how the ingredients,

I learned to cook Mexican and Filipino foods by observing my parents. But I know how to cook
more than just Mexican and Filipino foods. I know how to cook Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese,
Vietnamese, Spanish, American, and much more. I learned to cook thesefood types by watching the
Food Network channel. Instead of being a normal child, watching cartoons when they got home and
on the weekends, I would watch the Food Network, taking mental notes of what they were cooking
and the techniques they used, not realizing that I was learning.

Chris Rock was the host for the 2016 Oscar's Award show, and he cracked jokes of Hollywood
being racist. At first it was funny, until he kept going and then I started to realize that there was
truth behind his jokes. The joke that struck me the most was when Rock stated "..if you want black
nominees every year, you need to just have black categories." (Rock, 2016) He goes on to mention
how the women have different categories for acting, and he does not understand why. Actors are
being judged on their acting, which shouldn't change because they are a certain gender or race. The

My Favorite Hobbies
In order to be able to call something a hobby, I must enjoy doing it, and be able to do it for years.
At eighteen years old, fitting my experiences and activities into those two categories is quite
difficult. My lack of experience in life gives me a limited view, but the hobbies that I do enjoy, I
take pride in. I grew up playing outside with my brother, so we were always doing something
together as kids. Whenever my mom would take us out grocery shopping she would blare the music

Florida is a state that is very special to me. I have always enjoyed my many visits, but one trip in
particular stands out as my favorite. Ever since I was ten years old, I have enjoyed SCUBA diving

Finding time to complete all the activities I want to in a given day can be a challenge. I try to
center my day around school first and foremost, and then see what additional work I can
accomplish. The most basic, essential, as well as challenging activity I undertake is my
academic work. Every day I wake up around 9 a.m. and begin my coursework after having
breakfast and coffee. Because all of this takes place online, I open my laptop and listen to music
to help keep my mind from wandering while I work. Although there are different breaks such as
tea and lunch breaks, it can consume over half of the day. Away from my school life, family life
generally comes second. I am expected to spend dinner with my parents most evenings with
exceptions on weekends. Much of my time is for the most part spent helping my mom out, as she
has trouble with mobility and sometimes requires assistance. I often drive her around to any
appointments she might have as well as help her with groceries and other errands. Any chores she
has that have to do with bending, such as picking things up, I will usually help her with. Other than
that, we also just spend a lot of time together watching television and relaxing. On the other hand, I

My Favorite Hobby
Do you want to know one of my favorite pastimes? I love listening to music. It is a way for an
artist to communicate a story or a message to their audience to beats and rhythms. I love the artist
dodie. She is small artist that conveys her struggles with navigating love while also struggling
with depersonalization and depression. When I listen to her songs, I can feel the emotion in
them and to me, that is one of the most magical ways to tell a story. However, listening is
involved in our everyday lives. In order to communicate with others, we have to see and hear
what they're saying and form responses that are appropriate to continue a conversation.
Personally, I find myself to be an excellent listener...when I want to be. I am very selective as to
what I process as necessary information. Sometimes, this selectiveness of mine can get me into a
pickle, especially when a friend has said something and I have to respond to them but have no
clue what we were supposed to be discussing. But I always try to be a good listener in times when
someone needs me to be. If I have to sum up my ability, I would probably say that I am a decent
listener overall, but my lack of concern to listen to people hinders my ability to be completely
competent in communication. Listening involves much more than what it is perceived to be. It is
gathering information from a variety of sources, interpreting and analyzing the information, and then
