* It’s that time again - Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS)!
Here are a few tips to help your child during this time:
1. Ensure that your child is well-rested the night before.
2. Provide him/her with a well-balanced breakfast.
3. Practice basic math drills at home (e.g. multiplication and division facts).
4. Read with your child and ask questions to help build fluency and comprehension skills.

It is time for our standardized testing. These tests are very important because they allow us to see where we
need to shift our focus for your child’s success. With this in mind, please remind your child to do his or her
best on all the tests. That includes checking answers and not just getting through each test at a record pace.
There is no award for the student who finishes first. Also, remind your child to pay close attention to all the
instructions. At times, one word can entirely change the meaning of
the question.

* All Grades- We will be working on our autobiographies this week. Our goal is to have them completed
and typed by this Friday.
* Hint! Take your writing for a "test drive". Don't be afraid to read a sentence, paragraph, or your whole
paper to a friend or family member. Reading your work out loud helps you listen for errors and confusing
sentences.
It Happened This Week
September 28th- William the Conqueror landed in England in 1066.
