Open data is the idea that certain data should be
freely available to everyone to use and republish as
they wish, without restrictions from copyright, patents
or other mechanisms of control.
While not identical, open data has a similar ethos to
those of other “Open” movements such as open
source, open content, and open access.
The term “open data” itself is recent, gaining

9. Wat zijn de voordelen als anderen met ‘jouw data’
aan de slag gaan?
• Er kunnen toepassingen, websites of apps ontwikkeld worden die de
organisatiegrenzen en -mogelijkheden overstijgen
• Vanuit het perspectief van een eindgebruiker is de grens van een organisatie niet
altijd relevant

urbanized land area by 2016.
