Google Analytics 4 is a new kind of property, with several advantages over Universal Analytics. Also, Google Already announced that they are going to discontinue Universal Analytics from next year. 4. THINGS TO KNOW
• Google Analytics 4 is replacing Universal Analytics.
• On July 1, 2023, standard Universal Analytics properties will no longer process
data. You'll be able to see your Universal Analytics reports for a period of
time after July 1, 2023. However, new data will only flow into Google
Analytics 4 properties.

6. CREATE AN ANALYTICS ACCOUNT
• Visit https://analytics.google.com/ and
click on “Start measuring”
• Fill the account setup form which
comes in three steps -> Account Name
-> Next -> Property Name -> Next ->
About Your Business -> Create

“Show advanced option” and then click on the switch to on and then fill
the details and click Next.

10. CREATE A GOOGLE ANALYTICS 4
PROPERTY
You need the Editor role to add properties to a Google Analytics account. If you
created this account, you automatically have the Editor role.
Pre-assuming, you might already have an account with google UA property.
1. In Google Analytics, click Admin (lower left).
2. In the Account column, make sure that your desired account is selected. (If you
only have one Google Analytics account, it will already be selected.)
3. In the Property column, select the Universal Analytics property that currently
collects data for your website.
4. In the Property column, click GA4 Setup Assistant. It is the first option in the
Property column.
5. Click Get started under I want to create a new Google Analytics 4 property.

12. 6. If your site uses the gtag.js, tag,
you have the option to Enable
data collection using your
existing tags.
(If your website builder/CMS does not yet
support the gtag.js tag, if you use Google
Tag Manager, or your website is tagged
with analytics.js, the wizard can't reuse your
existing tagging and you'll need to add the
tag yourself)

13. 7. Click on “Create property” button.
Page get refreshed with the message, “You have successfully connected your
properties.” You can see the new “Property ID” under “Connected Property”
section.
Now Click on “See your GA4 property” button.

14. INSTALL GA4 TAG ON THE WEBSITE
(WITH GTM)

• Now you’ll land on setup
assistant section in the
new GA4 Property
section.

15. • Click on “Tag Installation” menu under Collection section.
• Now in “Data Streams” under “All“ click on forward button.
• Now, you’ll land on Web stream details
section. Here you’ll find the
MEASUREMENT ID, which we are going
to install on GTM for tracking.

16. • Copy the MEASUREMENT ID and open Tag
manager for the creation of a new tag.
• Select Google Analytics: GA4 Configuration
under Tag Type.

17. • Add the copied MEASUREMENT ID
and then Choose Trigger All

18. INSTALL GA4 TAG ON THE WEBSITE

If you already have gtag.js for another Google Analytics property on your
page, follow these steps to turn on tagging for this stream without changing
the code on your page:
• In a separate window, open the
Google Analytics property that
controls your on-page tag.
• Go to Admin > Tracking Info >
Tracking Code.

19. • Click Connected Site Tags under global site tag (gtag.js).
• Connect the MEASUREMENT ID

20. BACK TO GA4 SETUP IN WEB
STREAM DETAILS
• Click on Manage connected site tags under Additional settings.
• Enter UA tracking code in the ID section & add a Nickname for the ID under Connected
Tags section.

21. ● Now close the Web stream details section and click on Setup Assistant.
● Click on More Tagging Settings under Additional settings and enable Collect Universal
Analytics events.

• Click on Activate Google Signals

• Click on Search Console links under

• Now click on the Link button
• Now click on Choose accounts under

menu in Link Setup section.

property.
