2. K2 Connect
K2 Connect is an EDIUS tool that let users:
Connect in FTP to a K2 Stand alone media Client or K2 SAN
Connect to a K2 SAN directly in an Aurora configuration
Connect to local attached storage

First, you’ll need network access to the K2 Client
Then open K2 Connect in the EDIUS tool menu

Right click on the K2
Server (FTP)

The FTP dialog box is easy to configure:
Type in the name of your K2 Stand Alone client
or IP adress
Type the name of the K2 Bin you want to see
the content from (here /default)
Type in the user name: mxfmovie
Type in the password: mxfmovie
Check the save password check box
Test the connection
– If test OK, then press OK.

Once the FTP connection is
set the FTP tree node should
turn green

Double click it to show the
content of the folder in K2
connect
To import (move media) from
the K2 MediaClient to the
Local storage, just double
click on a clip in K2 Connect.
The task list open and show real
time progression of the transfer

While the transfer progress, you can find
the clip in your bin and even start
editing!!
The little red H means that the High
resolution media is being transferred
locally and that you start editing.
So go ahead… edit… you can import as
many clips as you need

Once your editing is done, you will need
to send back your sequence to the K2
MediaClient.
Use the “print to file” menu (F11)

To send back media to the K2,
we will use the MXF exporter
And select what type of format
you want to export

In my example I will choose
DVCPRO25

In the MXF exporter select FTP
You can add the Server name
and folder
IMPORTANT:
Add /MXF/ to the name of your
folder destination;
Eg. /MXF/On air

Type a name for your sequence
Click ok, then the export will start
The clip is playable on the K2
MediaClient while the export is
happening.
Usually the K2 MediaClient waits for
the clip to be 60% to 70% transferred
before making it available for
playback.

You can check that your clip is
being send to the right
destinatino by using K2 Connect
to see the content of the
MediaClient.
You can do it while the export
takes place.
