2. WORK WITH MORE RELATED GROUPS
• Yuri’s Night
• Contacted us about having a formal MOU laid out. It’s currently in progress, but they
can get SEDS in front of people while we can help them have great parties.
• Explore Mars
• Many folks from the Mars Society and are willing to help provide funding for college
contests that have Mars application.
• SpaceWiki
• Very interested in working with SEDS – more info soon!
• And so on and so forth ...
Looking for other industry groups, magazines, etc that would provide students with free/trial
content as well as companies with opportunities for students.
3. WORK TO FIND LEADERS
• We will need many new board members in 2011
• Need to seek out students to hopefully work with the current board in mid-2011 to gain
some experience.
• Board members should work to encourage a student or two to help them during the year.
4. ENDOWMENT
• Seek out potential donors NOW
• Request donations from donors that have planned to contribute
• Request donations from alumni (even small amounts)
• Keep going after the big fish for major donations
• In the long run, we would like the endowment to help support chapter travel, technical
design competitions between chapters (and other groups like AIAA), and possibly directly
support new chapters and chapter projects.
5. PUBLICATIONS
• Work with Publications directly to get them to begin to develop a cost-conscious method
of printing and to budget the money they are bringing in.
• While right now it is fairly fluid, I believe that Ad dollars should be spent on expanding the
reach of the NOVA directly to Universities
• NOVA needs to work with the Webmaster to get the NOVA online! One suggestion would
be for NOVA to get their own webmaster whose only job is to make NOVA articles
viewable online.
• Encourage more groups to write about projects they are participating in for the NOVA.
6. CHAPTER EXPANSION / AFFAIRS
• Get the Harvard / John Hopkins chapters online
• Get 5-10 new chapters this year to join SEDS (goal)
• See if we can convince some high school teachers to support high school chapters.
• It is very important to keep existing chapters functioning well and participating
• Increase sharing of chapter activities, projects, and outreach
• Figure out a way to make CoC quick & easy while encouraging chapters to communicate
on their own.
7. EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH / PR
• Support the idea of creating a database of education activities on the web
• Get chapters doing more outreach and creating new and interesting outreach activities.
• Hopefully this will help chapters to draw students interested in education to SEDS.
• Generate a couple good PR stories about SEDS-USA or individual chapters each month
• Keep adding good multimedia PR to Facebook, Twitter, and beyond…
• Generate a lasting relationship with space media websites and bloggers.
