THE UNSEEN CASE.
Narrative description

 A psychiatrist allows a reporter who has a deep
dark secret to re open a long term case, which was a
restricted file that shook the world, little does the
reporter know about the story that slowly unfolds
into psychological game played by the unseen. The
mental patient who falls into a coma when she has
possessed her victim, leaving her body, resulting to
the doctors thinking she’s dead and comes out of
the coma when she’s waiting for her next victim
,therefore making her the longest resident in the
ward. She plays mind games with the reporter
mentally torturing her to re-live the life she did and
to revealing her secret, leading her to insanity and
being admitted into the hospital where she is
  tortured further until she dies.
 To come up with our narrative we used the
    following films as inspiration:

 Shutter island
 Orphan
 Inception
 Memento
 The sixth sense
 For our opening sequence we have decided to rate it a 15+ as there
may be some distressing scenes that will upset children younger
than the age of 12, there may be a use of strong language, violence
and suggestions of drug abuse but not to a graphical extent.
 We thought this category would be best for our film as research
has shown that thriller movies are a lot more popular within this
    age group and above.
SUB GENRE AND CONVENTIONS

 We are going to base our film on a psychological thriller theme by
using a variety of camera techniques (such as close-ups, 180̊
rule, tilt), editing techniques and mise-en-scene which would help
to keep the audience anxious and also get the audience asking
questions like ‘what’s going on?’ ‘who is she?’ ‘who are they and what
    do they want to achieve?’.
SUGGESTED LOCATIONS
• We will be filming most of our shots in a class at school because it has
the features we need to create an Clinic scene. The school relates well
to our sub genre as it is a suitable location to create realism wit the
chairs, tables, computers etc. We would also be taking some shots at
Marnie’s house, which would be good for some scenes within our
    opening sequence.

• It is a reliable location because we can use it at any point in time. It is
also a central location where we can all meet up as a group. The class
room would work well with our genre because it would help with our
    narrative.

• The light and sound in the school would enable us produce a good
quality opening sequence because we can control the time of the day we
shot certain scenes and we can also control the crowd of people by
working after school hours or during breaks when people are away from
    our main location.
Character types
The Narrative we have constructed as a group, includes the three main
following characters with in are opening sequence:
 A Female psychiatrist (Rabiha)
 The interviewer (Saahirha)
 And a long-term residential, ‘mental’ patient (Marnie)

 The inclusion of minimal characters is due to the length of the
sequence, however are initial idea if established further would include a
number of other characters in order to create a more effective
  psychological thriller film.
 Within are narrative there is no real protagonist or antagonist as the
opening sequence will only consist of a victim and an unseen soul (ghost).
The Ghost, however can be classified as an antagonist, as the intentions
are to bring harm to its fallen victim, but realistically this imaginary
character will not exist for other characters; only for the audience.
 In order to develop are characters effectively we analysed some
characteristics of these previous roles featured in psychological thriller
movies. We created a character profile for each role to insist in are
  coming acting.
characteristics
 Psychiatrist- A psychiatrists Role consists of professionalism as
well as creating a special bond with his/her patients. In many
psychological thrillers psychiatrists have been portrayed in a
negative light, usually playing the antagonist. However, in are
opening sequence the psychiatrist plays a short role and therefore
does not portray any negativity; simply introduced other
    characters to one another.

 Ghost- Powerful unseen source, that is harmful and aims to
destroy it's prey targeted, usually by playing mind games.

 Interviewer- A character that is doubtful towards certain ideas
and demands answers to his/her questions. The interviewer usually
places his interviewee under pressure in order to solve his/her
mysteries. In our opening sequence however the interviewer is
simply tricked and becomes the victim of the unseen.
Individual Roles within the production
As a group we have taken a decision that all roles of production will be
distributed equally and each individual will assist their team mate in
   other tasks.

 Equipment will be handled by all.
Camera work (Filming)- Each individual in the group has been assigned a
role within the opening sequence, therefore we will take turns in
filming. This will be successfully carried out when a group member is
not needed in a particular shot, they are then able to film the shot
  taking place.
Editing (include the software that will be used for this process)- Team
work; editing is a task which will be completed together as a
group, majority of the time this task will be done in class whilst we
are all present to agree on the wanted shots that have been filmed
   previously.

Makeup and costume- This responsibility will be handed to one of
are group members Marnie, who will prepare costume in advance
and makeup just before the shot. Costumes will potentially be
purchased or simply borrowed.
