1. Tips on How to SpendRamadan
Allah(SWT) hasblessed andhonored mankindwiththe revelation of the Quranthatwas senttowards
ProphetMuhammad (SAW) sothat all humanity can benefitfromitsmessage andthe example of the
Prophet. The Quranwas revealed duringthe monthof Ramadanwhichonly addstothe blessingand
honorof thismonth, whichiswhy it isimperative forusMuslims tomake the mostof thisblessed time
and honorthe word of Allah(SWT) andbow down to Himin obedience. Allah(SWT) isthe Most
Merciful, soitis alwaysadvisedthatnomatterhow badyou thinkyouare, or how manysinsyouhave
acquired tonot to lose hope andask forgiveness, forindeedAllah(SWT) forgives all sins, we only need
to ask.
Allah(SWT) says, “The month of Ramadan [isthat] in which wasrevealed the Quran, a guidanceforthe
peopleand clear proofs of guidanceand criterion.”(Quran2:185)
Perhapsthe bestwayto honor Allah’s (SWT) book istorecite andmemorize itasmuch as we can, and it
isespecially importantthatwe make the mostof thisopportunity inthe monthof Ramadanso that we
can harness the greatestamountof reward.
Ibn‘Abbaas (RA) reported that, “TheProphet(SAW) wasthemostgenerous of peopleand heused to be
moregenerous during themonth of Ramadan, when heused to meet Jibreel (AS)) and review the Quran
with him. During thistime, the Prophet, wasfaster(in his generosity and bringing good) than a blowing

From thishadithwe can take the lessonthatit isgood toreview andlearnthe Quran duringthe month
of Ramadan, eitheralone oringroups and the constantrecitation isalsorecommended.
It isknown that some of the Salaf (righteous predecessors) usedtorecite the entire Quran
inRamadan every three nights, andsome usedtodoit every sevennights, like Qataadah(RA) and
othersusedto finishitevery tennights. IbnRajabsaid, "TheSalaf used to recite the Quran in the month
of Ramadan during prayerand othertimes;Qataadah used to teach theQuran in the month of
Ramadan. WheneverRamadan started, Az-Zuhri used to say:‘This is themonth of reciting the Quran
and giving food’.”
Blessingsof the Quran
The Quran is the wordof Allah(SWT), free fromall corruption andfalsehood. Itsguardianship Allah
(SWT) has takenuponHimself. The Quranisan easy book to learnfor Allah(SWT) hasmade it easy to
understand andmemorize. Allah(SWT) saysinthe Quran, “And We haveindeed made theQuran easy
to understand and remember, then isthereany that will remember?” (Quran54:17)

It isnot boringto reador recite repeatedly andeachtime one readsit, itoffers new insights.
Scholars can neverhave enoughponderingoverit,educatingthemselves fromitandlearning
more of itsmeanings.
Neitherhumankind norJinn can produce a chapterthat resembles it,becauseitisaneternal
miracle andproof.
Allah(SWT) says, “[This is] a blessed Book which We haverevealed to you, [OMuhammad], thatthey
mightreflect upon itsverses and thatthoseof understanding would bereminded.”(Quran38: 29)
The Prophet(SAW) said, "He who recites or readsa letter fromthe Book of Allah gets a reward and the
reward is multiplied by ten. I don'tmean ‘Alif LaamMeem’ is a letter, rather, Alif is a letter, laam is a
letter and Meemis a letter.” [At-Tirmithi]
The Prophet(SAW) said, “Thebest amongstyou arethosewho learn the Quran and teach it to
others."[Al-Bukhari].
The Prophet(SAW) said, "Theexampleof the believer who reads the Quran is like the "Utrujjah"(a type
of fruit). It hasa nice smell and a sweettaste. The exampleof the believer who doesnot read or recite
the Quran is like a date, which hasno smell buttastessweet. The exampleof a hypocritewho readsthe
Quran is like the Rayhannah, itsmells nice butit tastesbitter. The exampleof the hypocritewho does
notread the Quran is like the Hanthalah (colocynth) which doesnothaveany smelland it tastes
