1. Keeping it Real – Good Deeds andIntentions
Howshall Allah guidea peoplewho havedisbelieved aftertheir faith and [after] bearing witnessthat
the Apostleis true, and [after] manifestproofshad cometo them?Allah doesnotguidethe
wrongdoing lot.
(QuranSurah Al-Imran3:86)
Whena personreallygetsdownandstarts thinkingof all the gooddeedshe orshe has done,a good,
warm feelingbeginstodevelopwithinhimorher.Havinghelpedsomeone inneed,fedthe hungry,
put a smile onsomeone’sface,helpedsomeone intheirworkorsimplyhavingremovedand
obstacle fromthe road all count as gooddeedandAllah(SWT) rewardspeople forthem.The basic
purpose of humanityistoworshipAllah(SWT) andto do goodso that we mayprocure Hisfavour
and findsuccessinthe afterlife.Howeveritisquite commonespeciallyforthe weakerof faith
believerstobecome anxiousinthinkingif all these seeminglysmall deedshave anykindof
significance infrontof Allah(SWT) since theyhave committedmanysinstoo.Some sinsare small
and some sinsare big.Howeveralwaysrememberthatnomatterhow grave the sin,the mercy of
Allah(SWT) isinfiniteandgreater.Allah(SWT) saysinthe Quran,
“O My servantswhohave transgressedagainstthemselves[bysinning],donotdespairof the mercy
of Allah.Indeed,Allahforgivesall sins.Indeed,itisHe whoisthe Forgiving,the Merciful."
(SurahZumar 39:53)
Intentions
Thisis the mostimportantfactor where gooddeedsare concerned.Everygooddeedaccordingto
the Islamicdoctrine will be rewardedbasedonthe intention.Havingapure intentionisthe eyto
findingsuccessinthisworldandthe next.If a gooddeedisdone solelytoplease Allah(SWT) and
obtainHismercy,than that deedwill indeedbe rewarded.
Forgiveness
The main purpose of doinggooddeedsinthisworldistogain the forgivenessfromAllah(SWT) and
to findsuccessinthe afterlife.Everypersonisgoingtobe judgedaccordingtothe deedshe orshe
committedinthe worldandparadise andhellfiredependonthose deedsforaperson.Howeverif a
personistrulysorry forhis evil thathe has committed,he shouldneverbe depressedorhopeless
since as mentionedabove,there isnosininthisworldthatAllah(SWT) doesnotforgive withbegged
repentance for.
