2. About PSC
PSC is India’s largest oilfield safety store stocking over 1250 skus in
personal protection equipment and workplace safety products. Unlike other
safety suppliers, PSC’s focus is primarily on upstream companies
deploying their rigs in the oil and gas industry or on companies working on
SURF projects in deepwater basins. Our stocking product range is not
determined by what primarily sells in the local markets but by products that
have set a benchmark in improving safety in workplaces globally.
We are very strong in Hand Protection and over 40% of our revenues come
from this product group. PSC brought in impact protection gloves to India
way back in 2009 when it was unheard of. Today, we export our Hands–
Free Range that mitigates risk associated with handling suspended loads to
over 20 countries worldwide.
We are currently focussing on Dropped Objects Prevention in which our
objective is to minimise risks associated with falling objects including
fixtures or tools used during work at height. Ergodyne products presented
here are a part of that range.
5. STOP THE DROP
• Dropped and falling objects present a constant risk when working at height in
the oil and gas industry.
• Energy sources such as gravity, wind and mechanical motion can instigate a
sequence of events that result in something falling.
• Corrosion, lack of awareness and inadequate inspection are the cause of
dropped object incident. Statistics show that around 30% of all dropped
object incidents are related to design, technical or mechanical issues but
almost half can be attributed to human factors.
• To stop the objects from falling, tools must be tethered. Tool tethering is fall
protection for tools. It ensures that tools are secured. The emphasis with tool
tethering is on protecting the employees.
