2. Letter of Permission
• When first contacting EMI records, requesting permission to use ‘Standing in the
Way of Control – Soulwax Nite version (2006), we wrote a letter on Word. We then
searched for their contact details and found their email address, which I then
emailed, attaching the letter on to this.
3. This is the letter we
wrote to EMI Records,
requesting permission to
use their song ‘Standing
in the Way of Control’
(Nite Version – 2006) –
Soulwax, which we
attached to the email we
sent.
4. • After not receiving a reply to our email, we decided we should call EMI records and
speak to them directly about the music permission.
• We were forwarded on to the head of licensing, who took one of our email
addresses and said she would email us with information of what we should do
next.
• After not receiving an email from the company after this phone call, we called
again and was given the personal email address for the head of licensing, enabling
us to contact her directly and request this permission.
5. This is my email to the
head of licensing at EMI
Records, Zoe Stoll. I made
sure to attach the initial
letter that my group and I
wrote, to ensure they had
all the information they
needed regarding the
trailer.
6. This is the reply we received from the
head of licensing at EMI Records,
allowing us to use ‘Standing in the
Way of Control’ (Nite Version – 2006)
– Soulwax in our trailer.
7. Student License
• Attached to the email from the head of licensing was the student license,
outlining the company guidelines when using a song of theirs, as well as
the credit we must at the end of our trailer.
