3. 8K resolution, or 8K UHD, is the current
highest ultra high definition
television (UHDTV) resolution in digital
television and digital cinematography. 8K
refers to the horizontal resolution of
7,680 pixels, forming the total image
dimensions of (7680×4320), otherwise
known as 4320p
4. PIXEL
• DEFINITION- In digital imaging, a pixel is a
smallest controllable elements of a picture
(Building block of a picture).
• PIXEL DENSITY- Number of pixels in certain
space.Usually measured in PPI.
• PPI(Pixel Per Inch)- Number of pixel per inch.
7. RESOLUTION
• DEFINITION-
Number of distinct pixels in each
dimention that can Be displayed.
• AVAILABLE RESOLUTIONS
*2K (1920 X 1080)
*4K (3840 X 2160)
*8K (7680 X 4320)
10. Obstacles to 8K Implementation
As great as it seems, especially for professional
applications, targeting the consumer market is not that
easy. With billions of dollars having already been invested
by broadcasters, manufacturers, and consumers on
currently available HDTV broadcast technology, 4K TVs, and
source devices, and with 4K TV broadcasting just now
getting off the ground, widespread availability and use of
8K is a way off. However, behind the scenes, preparations
are being made for a consumer-targeted 8K landscape.
11. 8K and TV Broadcasting
It can be done by Super Hi-Vision video and broadcast
format.
This broadcast format is not only intended to display 8K
resolution video but can also transfer up to 22.2
channels of audio. The 22.2 channels of audio can be
used to accommodate any current or forthcoming
surround sound format, as well as providing a way to
supply multiple language audio tracks - which would
make universal worldwide TV broadcasting more
practical.
12. 8K and Connectivity
In order to accommodate the bandwidth and transfer
speed requirements for 8K, physical connectivity for
forthcoming TVs and source devices have to be
upgraded.
To prepare for this, an upgraded version of HDMI (ver
2.1) has been made available to manufacturers that can
be incorporated not just in TVs and source devices
but switchers, splitters, and extenders.
13. FUTURE OF 8K
TELEMEDICINE
*Recording of surgeries and medical diagnostic processes for
educational purposes.
14. SECURITY AND MONITORING
issue: face recognition in a crowd at airports, train stations and during mass
events (e.g. stadiums)
Many details on single 8K frame – the powerful source for image processing
Useful for police, border services and others security units
15. CAD/CAM PROJECTS
Automotive design Design and digital visualisatiom of 3D car models Tests
of safety, aerodynamics and ergonomic solutions
Architecture and urban planning Design and visualisation of buildings and
engineering constructions models Tests of ergonomic and functionality as
well as strength and safety of constructions
17. SUMMARY
Regardless of the ability to transmit and display 33-
million pixel 8K resolution images on a TV screen, the key
to its acceptance will be affordability and the ability to
provide viewers with actual native 8K content.
Unless TV and movie studios produce or remaster content
in 8K and have distribution outlets (streaming, broadcast,
or a physical medium), there will be no real incentive for
consumers to once-again dig into wallets and spend their
cash on a new 8K TV, no matter the price.
