A few tips to help you when planning, or deciding to plan, a sustainable event.

your carbon footprint.

2. Express your desire for a
sustainable event to everyone
involved early in the planning
process.
If everyone starts on the same page, there's no reason they shouldn't
end on the same page, when it comes to a sustainable event. Making
your wishes clear will make you event a success.

3. Write sustainability clauses into your
contracts with vendors, entertainers,
VIPs and Media Guests.

4. Choose venues that offer recycling,
use reclaimed water, are LEED
certified, and have access to public
transportation.

5. Hire vendors that use local or
organic materials.

6. Choose glassware and washable
utensils over disposable items.

7. Allow web streaming for the event to
reduce transportation costs and
damage.
Encourage presenters to have
electronic materials for distribution.

8. Use airlines that allow passengers to
offset their emissions.


9. Only offer paper and pens if
requested, then make them
sustainably produced and
biodegradable.

10. Offer bulk water stations,
and give BPA-free bottles
for swag. Refuse to use

11. Place recycling stations 2:1 to trash
cans.
Offer opportunities to calculate and
offset carbon footprints.
Request that labels have water-
soluble glue.

12. Establish fines for vendors who
leave any of their materials or trash
behind after the event.
