Assignment
1. I have learned from looking at these magazines is
that I would have the dominant image
overlapping or overlapped by the masthead and
have the masthead a clear colour like white or
black depending on the background colour. Also,
that the sell lines are not to be overlapping the
dominant image.
2. From these images gathered off the internet I have learned what I
would like my double page spread to look like because I like the idea of
having large images on my page before text because it can interest the
reader. However I don’t like how some images take over more than
half a page because I think that is just a waste of paper, as it doesn't’t
tell anyone much about what's happening.
3. Print
Magazine
The reason I have decided to create a print magazine is because it
will give my target audience a leisurely experience and it also
means they can read my magazine without having to zoom in or
close down applications because they accidently click on
advertisements. I personally believe print magazine is a better
experience for my audience because they don’t need Wi-Fi to read
my magazine, it can also be read at any time, anywhere as long as
the reader has a copy of the magazine. Although print magazines
are declining in popularity I still believe they are much more
convenient and easier to use than digital magazines especially for
the elderly who haven't grew up with access to the internet which
means they wont know how to use it.
4. Draft
article
WILL SEAHAM GO AHEAD?
Se aham rugby club have been very lucky as with
their scores re less than their opponets but they
have had more try's against a team who is above
them in a league.
This give them a little bit of hope during half time
they were at the start impresive as theywere 5-0 up
and failed to get the conversion then Yarm got even
and they as wellc ouldn’t get the coversion due to
the wind con itions conversions were almost
impossible but ocasionally they got through.
WILL SEAHAM GO AHEAD?
Seaham rugby club have been very lucky, with their scores as

little bit of hope during half time. They were impressive at the
start as they were 5-0 up and failed to get the conversion then
Yarm got even and they as well couldn’t get the conversion due
to the wind conditions, conversions were almost impossible but
occasionally they got through.
6. CONTRIBUTORS
I would be using my own images of Seaham Rugby Club as I am
doing a rugby magazine. They will be credited in the images
either with individual images or as a group. I would get their
permission to use there photos.
Locations.
The shoot will be at Seaham Rugby club’s training ground. I
have made that choice as I will be doing a behind the scenes of
a rugby team during training.
Equipment
The equipment that I would be using is a cannon camera (for
the images), green screen (for images which I can crop),
Seaham rugby training ground (for the front cover and article).
Cost
There will be no cost as the equipment and locations are free
for the images taken as the rugby team I train with so when the
images were taken it was at a training session.
7. My
Pitch
Do you like rugby? Then you could read ‘Rugby
World’ or you can read ‘Rugby Insider’. Which is the
rugby magazine for the teams in the non-televised
league as they have some better matches than
televised teams as they are normal people who play
for the fun side of rugby.
With this magazine you can see what rugby is like
when it is ordinary people and not celebrities like
teams who are from towns which are not know that
well.
11. Proposal
The way the product will be produced is a print
magazine with primary images of Seaham rugby
team as they will be featured in an article about one
of their matches. The technical considerations of my
magazine are the cost of the photoshoot is free as
the camera that was used were given out and was
handed back in the next day after the shoot. The
location of the photoshoot was at Seaham rugby
clubs training ground this was to give the images a
sense of realism as other rugby magazines have
shoots in a studio where-as this magazine is outside
and they are not all facing the camera as to give an
‘insider’ view of their training. The legal and ethical
considerations were do I have permission to use
their image and I did have permission to use the
image. This is an example of an image which I took
at the training ground and would possibly appear in
the magazine in regards to their training as this
would give the reader a look into the training of
Seaham rugby club. The black and white filter was
taken on the camera so an original image is not
possible.
12. Treatment
• The reason I have chosen to design the flat plan
the way I have is to interest the audience in the
article as it will flow similarly to the placing of the
players on the pitch on the double page spread,
but on the front cover it is based like a rugby pitch
this gives the reader a feeling of they are actually
look at a rugby pitch from a birds eye view. The
cinematography of the magazine is going to be
action shots if they don’t look as blurry as they
would normally when you take moving images. The
mise-en-scene of the images are going to be: at
Seaham rugby club’s training ground, lighting is the
flood lights as it was a dark night, their facial
expressions are natural as they were training and
not just for the shoot so they were listening to the
coach instead of paying attention to the camera,
the props are the ball and the cones to signify the
area in which they can train in. The colour scheme
for the magazine will be green as this links with the
theme of sport as rugby is played on grass.
13. TRANSFORMATION
OF THE IMAGES
• The images that I took during the shoot were
manipulated during the shoot it as I used different
filters which changed the image from normal to
black and white and to a blue colour depending on
the filter which is added at the time. I did this to
see what they would look like as the normal
images looked a little dark so I did this to see what
they would come out like with the brightness of
the pitch at the time. So the originals of those in
particular images are not there as they are the
originals.
