2. Desktop computers will soon be 'irrelevant', say Google
The future of computing will be on mobile devices, says a senior Google executive
Google says that the days of desktop computer as we know it are numbered. John Herlihy, the vice-
president of Global Ad Operations, tells the Digital Landscapes Conference in Ireland that the future of
computing is mobile and through the web browser.
“In three years time, desktops will be irrelevant. In Japan, most research is done today on smart
phones, not PCs,” he says.
His comments echo the views of Google chief executive Eric Schmidt. Mr Schmidt says that the
company now considers itself to be “mobile first”.
Mr Herlihy continues: “Mobile makes the world’s information universally accessible. Because there’s
more information and because it will be hard to filter it all, that’s why search will become more and
more important. This will create new opportunities for new entrepreneurs to create new business
models – ubiquity first, revenue later.”
Usando as técnicas de skimming e scanning,
(1) through ( ) repercutir/ecoar

3. Future Computer
In a few years, cloud computing will be so Old School. The PC will be what the mainframe is today. And,
Web 5.0 will finally kick in for future computers.
People will drive their future car inside their future city and then go back to their future home and tell
their future robots what needs to be done.
Nano neural networks will be the standard. Our brains will be connected directly to this vast future
computer technology, miniaturized, broadened and more powerful. Sound like science fiction?
Trends in future computer technology dictate that microchips,
processors, hard drives and all computer components will be smaller.
But a step beyond this will be the elimination of these small electronic
cell phone, palm pilot, laptop, DS, GPS, facial recognition devices
that have been rolled into one. Networks will be so widespread that
there will be no need to carry small handheld devices.
Future computer technology will help solve many medical problems such as dyslexia and ADHD by
reinterpreting sensory data and modulating brain activity. Other medical illnesses and conditions will be
cured or managed by future software controlling dosages of medicine such as those with diabetes now
experience, but the scope of the conditions healed or managed will be much vaster.
Future computer software will know when to stimulate neurons, how much, and will communicate with
nanorobots that perform microscopic surgery or deliver medicine to very small, specific areas of the
body.
The future of computer technology is a very bright one indeed. The current trends tell us this, as well as
the research and development that is happening at lightning pace. The children today will have a whole
new technological world waiting for them tomorrow. And tomorrow isn't that far away.
