1. Business Leaders: You have Never Lost
Money Through Employees’ Disengagement!
Money is never lost through employees’ disengagement. It wasn’t there in
the first place. The so-called 'lost money' is the gap or unreached
potential of the leader’s vision and strategy.
Stuart Mackay explains what’s really going on.
"There is a ‘hidden firewall' blocking the leader’s vision and strategy". We
all know firewalls are meant to protect an organisation from outside
threats. But what about a 'hidden firewall' that is seriously undermining
the leader’s vision and blocking the organisation’s progress from within?
Stuart spends most of his time helping leaders get up to speed on what is
really blocking their vision, slowing the organisation down and hurting
productivity and, of course, profitability.
2. "Leaders I speak to often get a shock to find out that many of their key
decision makers, managers and employees are not really hearing, let
alone seeing or feeling their vision,” says Stuart.
*A recent Gallup Report noted that Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and
Singapore have among the highest proportions of employees who are ‘not
engaged’ in the world. In particular, in Malaysia, only 11 percent of
employees are 'engaged'. 81 percent are 'not engaged' and eight
percent are 'actively disengaged'. (*NST 14 April 2016).
Collectively, your vision looks like this with
disengaged employees.
It’s every leader’s dream to have his or her vision
clear and realised.
Stuart says, "Of course, the path to higher engagement is the employee's
personal journey. However, with support from enlightened leadership, you
can bridge the gap in the organisation’s under-developed potential”.
A huge part of the problem is that our key decision makers and
employees are seeing, thinking, feeling, and making daily decisions
through a wall of stress and negative tension. And that causes
productivity blockages, wellness issues, and regular 'sickies', which really
torpedoes the leader's vision and hits their bottom-line.
Let’s drill down a bit further
The 80 - 20 rule is a well-known business principle.
As an analogy, imagine there are two types of computers being used in
your organisation:
Computer #1 has a filter in front of the screen that only reveals 20% of
the information, but is viewed by 80% of your employees.
Computer #2 also has a filter in front of the screen that reveals 80% of
the information, but is only viewed by 20% of your employees.
3. Imagine the confusion and inefficiency as 80% of your employees try to
work out what is actually being communicated and act accordingly.
The point being made is that all our communications are only being partly
received and acted upon by our employees. The 'filter' causing many of
the blockages is actually the level of stress and tension that is being
experienced by our most senior, right through to our most junior,
employees.
“We have become technically rich and receptively poor. Receptivity must
precede training. The organisational soul needs to balance the receptive
with the technical (business), to reach its full potential.
The process I show leaders to free up their managers and employees is
easy to learn and simple to implement, but it can create major changes in
efficiency," Stuart added.
