PART 1 –ROMANIA, TARGOVISTE
MARY: The forest is so green! It glows so beautifully in the sunshine.
JANE: Mary, do you remember how much we used to play in this forest? What a
happy childhood we had! We have changed, but the forest is the same: green and
beautiful.
MARY: Yes, it is. You’re right, Jane. Look, Laura is coming, too!
LAURA: Hi, girls! I’ve missed you so much. I am so happy that you decided to have
a picnic in “our forest”. Look, I’ve brought a basket full of goodies.
MARY: Great! I can’t wait to taste them all!
JANE: Let’s sit down and enjoy our picnic, then.
MARY: I agree with you. Let’s not waste any precious time!
LAURA: What’s that noise? Where does it come from?
JANE: That annoying noise spoils the silence of this place.
MARY: Look, girls! Those boys over there are making the noise.
JANE: What are they doing?
LAURA: Oh, no! They are harming the forest. The blonde one is trying to light the
fire, the tallest one is trying to destroy the birds’ houses and the shortest one is
carving his name on that big tree trunk.

MARY: I think they have also thrown those juice cans and those plastic bags in the
grass.
JANE: We have to talk to them immediately.
LAURA: Do you really believe they will listen to us?

are so many of them in the world. I don’t understand.
LAURA: You have no idea how wrong you are. The trees are fewer and fewer every
year because people cut down a lot of them and they don’t plant enough or they
don’t plant at all.
BOY 1: Let’s go, boys! We’re wasting our time here.
MARY: Maybe you should listen to us for a few minutes. You may change your
mind.
JANE: Yes, you should. Just listen! Please!
BOY 2: OK, you have just a few minutes to convince us that we are wrong.
LAURA: This forest is part of our life and a very beautiful part of our town, too.
MARY: The trees in this forest make the air in our town cleaner and fresher.
JANE: Do you know that too many trees are cut down at present and that helps
the global warming? Our planet is getting warmer and warmer every year and
that’s really dangerous for the mankind?
LAURA: Yes, 18.7 million acres of forests are lost every year around the world.
Deforestation threatens biodiversity and people’s life as well.
PART 3-
LAURA: A lot of people come to this forest every day to jog, to exercise, to walk,
to listen to the birds singing and to admire the colourful flowers.
MARY: There are also a lot of children who love playing here, children just like
you.
BOY 3: Honestly, I have to admit that I like playing in this forest, too.
BOY 2: Me, too!

BOY 3: Well, we didn’t realize how much we hurt the environment. We didn’t care
about this forest because we only cared about having fun. We were selfish, I
suppose.
JANE: Yes, you’re right. You hurt the environment. Look at all those cans and
plastic bags that you have thrown. Do you know that the plastic bags are not
biodegradable? They will remain there forever.
MARY: People have created 6.3 billion tonnes of plastic waste in just 60 years.
Two thirds of all plastic ever made is now polluting the natural environment.
JANE: People drop too much litter in the parks, in the oceans and seas and also in
the cities. It’s awful.
MARY: Our blue planet will look like a huge bin soon.
LAURA: Instead of dropping litter, you can recycle the aluminum cans and the
plastic bags, too. There are recycling bins all over our town. Have you ever noticed
them?
BOY3: Yes, we have.
BOY 1: I remember that our teacher talked to us about recycling, but I didn’t pay
too much attention. I thought that was not important. Now I realize that I was
wrong.
MARY: Good for you! You can still do something.
BOY 2: Our teacher told us about the colours of the recycling bins, too. I know that
the green bins are for glass, the yellow bins are for plastic and the blue ones are
for paper.
BOY 1: You have forgotten to mention the red ones. The red bins are for metal.
PART 4-
BOY 3: Boys, do you remember the meaning of the three “R”s?
BOY 1: No, I don’t.
BOY 2: Me, neither.

JANE: I can help you. The three “R”s mean: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.
BOY 3: Yes, that’s right. Reuse! Reduce! Recycle!
LAURA: Take a look around you! Do you like what you see? Do you like what you
hear?
BOY 1: Yes, of course. The flowers are wonderful and they smell lovely.
BOY 2: And it is so quiet here. There are no cars. You can only listen to the birds
that are singing so nicely.
BOY 1: The air is so clean and the birds are really cute.
MARY: We would also like to tell you that lighting the fire in the forest is extremely
dangerous. You can make a mistake and the whole forest could be on fire. Even
the whole city!
BOY 3: Yes, we know that. We are not allowed to play with fire.
JANE: Well, boys, have you changed your mind? Do you still think that this forest
is not important?
BOY 1: I was terribly wrong. I am so sorry.
BOY 2: Me, too.
BOY 3: Me, too.
MARY: Now that you feel sorry for your actions, I think you can do some things
that can help us save the forest.
BOY 3: Really? What can we do? Please, tell us!
BOY 2: Yes, tell us. We will certainly help you save the forest.
BOY 3: We will do whatever it is necessary to make things right and save this
beautiful place.
JANE: Well, first of all you have to convince your dad that destroying the forest is
wrong. You can tell him everything we told you about the effects of destroying the
forest.

BOY 3: We will make him understand that our planet needs our help. It needs our
help if we want to enjoy the beauties that Earth offers us. We have to admit that
Planet Earth is very generous.
MARY: So, let’s meet again tomorrow to tell us about your dad’s decision!
BOY 2: That’s a good idea.

MARY: Please, tell us about your dad’s decision.
JANE: We are so anxious!

BOY 2: Our dad still wants to buy the forest.

BOY 3: Wait a second! It’s very good news.
BOY 1: He wants to buy the forest, but he isn’t going to build anything here.

LAURA: Now, because you have just saved this wonderful forest you can join our
club.
BOY 3: Club? What club?
MARY: We are members of a club called “The Green Children”.
BOY 1: “The Green Children”?!
BOY 2: What exactly is that club? What do you have to do as a member of that
club?
LAURA: The members of this club are all people who are interested in protecting
the environment. They are all volunteers and love nature very much. We have
partners in other European countries such as Poland, Romania, Spain, Lithuania,
Italy and so on.

MARY: We develop and implement projects with institutions such as
kindergartens, schools, high schools and universities in order to promote the
importance of saving our planet and to make people aware of how much we can
help our planet if we work together.
JANE: A lot of institutions and people have joined our club so far. They are willing
to be active citizens who get involved and who really want to find the best
solutions to solve the problems of the environment.
LAURA: What do you think? Would you like to join our club and save other
beautiful places?
JANE: You really deserve it. Moreover, you have just proved that you can do it.
