Competitive Analysis in Turkish Cement Industry
Turkish Cement Industry is the leader in Europe and ranks fourth in the World
according to production
quantities. Sector meets not only the domestic needs and the increased amount
of exports but also
generates an intensive employment potential in Turkish economy. Cement
producers have to analyze
environmental factors and develop respective strategies to be competitive in the
sector. Thus, the aim of
this research has been to answer the question of "What are the environmental
factors affecting
competition in the cement sector in Turkey?". Porter's Five Factor Analysis
model was used to form a
questionnaire consisting of 54 questions. The questionnaire was completed by
the member firms of
Cement Manufacturers of Turkey (CBRT). Twenty hypotheses have been
analyzed with the chi-square
fitness test and analysis results are discussed under the headings of the Five
Factor model.
