Adult Spiritual Growth Opportunity
“God is not an impersonal force to be used to
make people behave in certain prescribed
ways, but a personal Redeemer who set us
free to live a free life. God did not coerce us
from without, but set us free from within.”
That‟s the essence of The New Testament
Letter to the Galatians -- the bible book we
are studying this fall. People who like
laughter, a relaxed atmosphere (even coffee

faith will enjoy this group. We meet every

Music Notes
Postlude: Toccata & Fugue in D minor BWV 565
It must come as a shock to music listeners that
there is every reason to believe that this organ
piece, the most famous of all time, is probably
not by Bach at all. It is attributed to 1707, when
the composer was only 22 and resembles no
other work from that period. Certain details of
the music exhibit techniques never used by him
in any other piece, such as the two-handed
scales at the beginning and later, and the
choice of a plagal cadence at the very end. One
commentator thought it was composed much
later, and meant to be a parody of the baroque
style. Modern recognition of this stupendous
work, transcribed or large orchestra, started
with the release of a series of 78 rpm records in
1927, and was continued by the 1939 Disney
film, Fantasia.
