1. Personal Skills Audit Name:_______________________________________
Skills acquired How did these skills
contribute to the creation of
your product?
How will you develop these
skills during the A2 project?
Digital technology
- What
equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
• Photoshop editing
• Camera
• Tripod
• Bamboo Touch Pad
The camera equipment made the
product seem more realistic and
gave it a more professional feel;
photoshop aided me with the
production of story boards and
posters.
Using new special focus cameras
will improve my production and
rage of abilities. Also the
knowledge learned in AS, such as
camera angles and types of shots,
will aid me within the filming
stage.
Post production
- What software did you
use to create your
production?
- Discuss specific features
of the software.
Final cut editing skills.
I Movie
Word
Microsoft Outlook.
Final cut had a very simple and
quick method of cutting footage.
Made the production of my
product quicker and appear
more professional. Microsoft
Word was very useful, most of
my documents where produced
on word and shifted into my Wix
website.
I will try and find more software
and advance my skills with
them, also, as I have had more
time with the software I will be
more suited to using it
2. Research and Planning
- What tasks did you
complete when
preparing to film your
sequence?
- How did your planning
help the smooth
progression of your film?
The use of planning, especially
within the storyboard, made the
shooting days quicker and
smoother; also the ability to
view other products on the
market gave us some
inspiration.
The viewing of Noir cinema,
such as M and The Big Combo
helped give us an idea for the
tone of our film.
A lot of research into influential
music videos as well as the
methods used to create them
will advance any ideas.
Using conventions of real
media texts
- Which texts did you
analyse?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
I tried to learn about the
conventions within noir so it
allowed me to use them in my
own work. I analysed “The Big
Sleep” and “Seven” – both
being noir but one being neo
noir gave me scope for how to
make a noir feel modern.
They contributed allot, most of
the shots seemed like a copy
from classic noir. Low angles
and long shadows stretching
across walls.
I will try to get allot more
analysis into other related
products, this shall allow me to
get more understanding of the
conventions.
Creativity
- were your ideas for your
portfolio imaginative and unique
or did you adhere to
conventions?
For my video we used lots of
conventions, we used them as
we were creating a Neo-Noir
and only in adhering to these
conventions could we portray a
clear demonstration of the
genre.
The viewing of classic noir and
knowing the conventions of the
genre really helped in creating
our video. We used silhouettes
and darkly light alleyways,
shadows and corrupt police
work.
I will use the skills I have picked
up in AS and attempt to find the
conventions in music videos, as
to if I adhere to them or not is
undecided
