2. One key feature we have continued throughout our final piece
‘Happily Ever After’ was the idea of using photographs and photo
frames as over cuts during interviews with our main subjects (Neil
Thompson and Maggie Thompson). We continued to use the idea of
over cuts of photographs with the interview with Claire Jones of the
same sex couples and the scenery shots of the registry location.
3. Interviewees
We specifically asked our interviewees how
to dress for filming. With Maggie and Neil
Thompson (right) we asked if they could
wear day to day clothing, what they would
wear at home in order to show their daily
lives together, we decided to film in their
living room, a cozy location to make the
interviewees feel more comfortable and to
also give the feel of comfort to the audience.
Claire Jones (left), we asked if she could wear
a smart but comfortable choice of clothing, we
wanted claire to appear smart as she would if
she was working during a wedding ceremony,
our location for her interview focuses on the
office of the registry office, but enables the
audience to see the beautiful outside greenery
through the window.
4. Comparing Ancillary Posters
Throughout our ancillary posters, two of our posters have similar images of the
same couple on their wedding day, in all three the colour scheme has been kept
to pale colours, we have decided to do this in order to keep to the theme of
weddings, not to have bright and bold colours but subtle and light. The writing
although not the exact same font, we have decided to keep the style of writing;
being handwriting the same, as this relates back to the theme of weddings again.
We have also kept this the same throughout all of our products, we decided to
use handwriting on our double page spread for our title, we have also used this
handwriting in our final opening sequence documentary ‘Happily Ever After’ for
the title. The TV would be
released on the BBC
Channel, due to this we
decided to keep the
BBC logo on all of our
products to make it
clear where to watch
our documentary, this
feature would be key
for the audience to
know.
5. Throughout our documentary we also decided to keep the
transitions used similar to present the same effect, an
example of this is the transition used for the over cuts when
Claire Jones is being interviewed. Throughout our
documentary we continue to use the same background
music, this is key as it relates to the theme of marriage and
weddings, it is commonly used throughout our final piece.
Overall we feel that we have successfully kept the theme of
weddings clear throughout, we have managed this by keeping
to similar colour schemes such as pales and pastels, keeping
the mise-en-scene relevant to the context of the interview
and/or the voiceover in our final task. For our ancillary tasks
we have continued to use similar photos but also decided to
use a range of photos to show the common idea presented
throughout our documentary series.
