My Experience Of Riding Horses
I sat perched on a horse, named Sysco, waiting as the rest of the group in the arena mounted. I
looked out at the sight I never got sick of, a horse's neck up. I saw the two ears, mane, forelock,
and head. The silky mane just waiting to be brushed. The face that is the best part of a horse, with
it's dark, caring eyes waiting to know what you are about to do, and it's mouth that munches on
sweet treats and hay. The bridle leading to my hands, the horn, and the front of the Western saddle
were also in the beautiful sight in front of me.
I was at a mother–daughter horse camp, at Kidder Creek, a place near the Oregon border. I was 10
years old, with my love of horses growing each day. Horses were my favorite animals, and my

Would the same happen to me? We also walked around the arena, near the edge. The entire time, I
was living the moment, remembering the moment, saving the moment. I didn't want my dream to
end, so I enjoyed it and preserved it while it was still happening.
"I think you are ready to trot," the instructor said.
All the sudden my almost empty mind flooded with thoughts. Were we ready? What does trotting
feel like? Will I be able to get Sysco to trot?
My mind flashed back to a scary moment. A family friend had two horses, but they were not
trained too much. I was riding off a lead line for the first time, and we were just going around their
big house. I was riding Jesse, a coal black coated horse. I was about to finish a circle when Jesse
started going faster. He started trotting. It was only a few moments, but the trot felt as fast as
American Pharoah, the Triple crown race horse, and as bouncy as popcorn popping in a pan. The
trot was something I wanted to do on purpose, not suddenly.
My horse stood at the arena wall, watching as the instructor showed us how to trot.
"You go into a walk, the squeeze your legs until the horse trots," she explained. It is just like getting
into a walk, just starting a gait faster.
I watched as the first person of the group went. Her horse looked beautiful as it trotted. There is just
something about horses when the move, with their gleaming silky tails flowing out behind them,
their body moving with a

The Legend Of Horse Essay
During my years in elementary school, my mother would tell me the story of the Chinese zodiac
around the time of the Lunar New Year without fail. The story goes like this. The Jade Emperor
ordered that animals would become the twelve calendar signs. These slots would be given to the
twelve animals that arrived first the next day. Mouse finished the race first by hitching a ride on Ox
and then jumping in front of him at the last moment. Tiger and Rabbit finished third and fourth,
respectively, shortly after Ox. Dragon, who was delayed because of his compassionate nature,
finished fifth. Horse was on track to finishing sixth, but fell backwards out of fright when Snake
appeared from his hiding spot on Horse's hoof. As such, Snake finished sixth and horse seventh.
Goat, Monkey, and Rooster finished eighth, ninth, and tenth. Dog and Pig finished eleventh and
twelfth. I've now learned that like the horse in the story, I am constantly being cheated of a more
favorable position because of the...show more content...
It felt as if all the adults who I tried to impress had suddenly formed an alliance with the sole
purpose to strike me down. Every so often there would be a "Stop talking, you must not blurt!" from
my mother when I had barely spoken, or a "Give another person a chance, don't be so selfish!"
from my father after I had waited in line. I began to notice other changes as well. The
opportunities that I once saw to establish myself were still there, but they seemed to be closed off
and restricted. Where I once saw glory in surpassing others, I only saw shame. It became even
worse over time. When I looked at myself or others, I didn't even see people anymore. I saw a
collection of masks that were used to hide people's true natures in order for them to gain
mainstream approval. Even as my grades slip as a result, I still have not been able to shake these

Morgan Horse Research Papers
Every young girl grows up wishing her parents would buy her a pony. Riding horses is a passion
that many people share. Riding a horse can provide a freedom unlike anything else. The bonds
between horse and rider can become so strong it is amazing they cannot talk. There are two types of
breeds that stand out among the rest: The Morgan horse and the Arabian. These two breeds are
unlike any other because of their size, yet they are also some of the most hard–working,
free–spirited horses bred.
The Morgan breed is intelligent, willing and eager. Morgans are known for their upright necks,
distinctive dished faces, and their wildly expressive eyes. They are small, compact horses with a lot
of muscle ("Morgan Breed Description"). The Arabian breed...show more content...
It is not a proven fact, yet it is thought that the colt's mother was an Arabian and father was a
Thoroughbred. Justin Morgan named him Figure, and although Figure was not as big as most the
other horses Justin worked with, he proved to be the strongest. Justin entered Figure into races also;
he was much smaller but almost always finished first. Word spread of this little horse's glory and
many started to breed their mares with this outstanding Stallion. And the breed was named after the
owner who started it all, Justin Morgan ("The History of the Morgan Horse"). Now the Arabian horse
has a very different background. The Arabian is the oldest known breed of horse. They are said to
have come from the deserts of the Middle East. They are now one of the most wanted breeds in
America. They lived along the Arabian Peninsula, bred by the Bedouins as war horses that could
make long journeys or quick escapes. Because of the harsh conditions in the desert, they grew large
lungs and indescribable endurance for any animal (Welcome to Arabian Horses.org– Education).
The Morgan may have been part Arabian, which ties these two breeds together (The History of the
Morgan Horse). Both are small, yet have never–ending production of

The Evolution of a Horse Essay
The Evolution of a Horse Throughout history, humans have depended on the horse. Horses have
contributed to the growth of humankind as transportation, farm workers, and battle steeds. They
have been trained to support humans in many ways. When did this relationship begin? At what point
did the horse become a vital part of human society? Exploring the evolution of the horse can help to
answer these questions. A mammal with hooves that have an odd number of toes on the rear feet are
known as odd–toed ungulates. The middle toe on each rear hoof is usually larger than the ones next
to them. Horses are members of the odd–toed ungulates which includes the horses, tapirs, and
rhinoceroses. They are relatively large grazing animals with...show more content...
Four of the toes had early proto–hooves. The back legs had small hooves on three of the five toes.
The toes were padded like a dog's toes. The Hyracotherium had three incisors, one canine, four
premolars, and three grinding molars on each jaw, which was a typical tooth structure of early
mammals who were omnivorous browsers (Hunt 4). Eohippus survived for about twenty million
years with relatively few evolutionary changes (Wikipedia 7). These animals lived in a sub–tropical
climate and ate soft fruits and the leaves of trees.
During the middle to late Eocene and into the Oligocene epoch several other members of the equids,
with distinct evolutionary changes, existed including the Orohippus, Epihippus, Mesohippus, and
Miohippus. The Orohippus developed from the Hyracotherium and shared many of the same traits.
One major change was that the first and second toes disappeared. Another significant change
occurred in the teeth. The last premolar changed to become like a grinding molar. Also the crests
were more defined showing that the Orohippus's diet had changed to a tougher plant material.
During the middle Eocene a descendant of Orohippus appeared. The Epihippus still resembled a
dog–like animal. It had four padded toes on the front leg, and three on the back leg. However, the
teeth changed more drastically with two of the premolars changing to grinding molars. Now there
were five grinding cheek teeth with low crowns. As

Horse Essay : The Trojan Horse
The Trojan Horse
The Trojan horse could be considered a gateway to the Greeks success. It was a brilliant invention
thought of by Odysseus, but built by a man named Epeius, a master carpenter and pugilist. Epeius
was a man of great skill who had a brilliant mind. He took on the task of building this massive giant
to life. In total, completing the task in only three days. In that time, the Trojan Horse was the Greek's
idea of a sneak attack. It was a novel idea, something not expected, a way to finally end the ten–year
epic battle between the Greeks and the Trojans, that led to the fall of Troy, all thanks to a noted
"peace offering" from the Greeks. Book Two of Virgil's TheAeneid gives us some insight into what
happened on that dreaded, or for some, marvelous day. We know what the Trojan Horse stood for,
but what did it look like? Once can assume that it is called the Trojan Horse because of the
representation of a horse. But what did a horse that held around 40 soldiers. Some sources say as
few as 35, others say as many as 60. Inscribed on the horse it was written "For their return home,
the Greeks dedicate this offering to Athena." The Trojan Horse had to be large enough to break
down the walls of Troy, both in width and height. Scholars say the beast had to be around 10 feet
wide and 25 feet tall. Empty, weighing 2 tons, being more than doubled when filled with soldiers.
Thinking in average that one man can pull approximately 200 pounds, it would take over 40

Argumentative Essay About Horses
If you've ever owned an animal, you know that being around them can be extremely therapeutic.
After a stressful day at work or school, it is always nice to come home to your pet and feel
comforted by them. Many dog owners even claim that their dogs can feel their pain. However, if
you speak to anyone who has been spent their life around horses, they'll tell you that the connection
between horse and rider is unlike any other. Norwegian researcher Anita Maurstad explains in a
recent article, that over time horse and rider can become so attuned to each other that they develop a
state of co–being. Maurstad also found, through research, that horses appear to learn to relate to
humans in ways that provide them with a good quality of life. A recent study from Washington State
university has concluded that kids who work with horses have significantly lower stress levels. In
addition to these, there have been numerous other studies that show that working with horses
decreases blood pressure, reduced feelings of anger, tension, and anxiety. Riding horses also allows
you to gain feelings of self esteem, empowerment, patience, and trust. Because of the overwhelming
positive effects that horses seem to have, horses are no longer being used just for recreational or

They sense our emotions and often move away from fear and anger because these register as
potential danger. However, they don't feel threatened by the more vulnerable human emotions such
as sadness and loneliness. Horses can sense the feelings in us that are often out of our conscious
awareness and, thus, give us information about ourselves. They mirror our feelings back to us
through their body language, therefore, they teach us how we impact those around us. For example
if a patient begins to get angry with a horse and loses their temper, they will be able to see the horse
recoil which gives the patient a clear understanding of the effect their emotions can

What Is The Experience Of A Horse Riding Essay
I had gone horse riding before Altai, but not since I was about 10 or 11 years old. Even then,
when I was riding regularly, I still got nervous before mounting the horses. The riding instructors
were not very nice to the horses and they got scared extremely easily because of that. I had nearly
fallen off multiple times and those memories still shake me up today. So in this trip I was terrified
of falling off the horses if they got freaked out. When we were due to pick our horses, I was really
nervous. As the instructor was demonstrating how to turn the horse (the horse did not look happy at
all doing it), some of the horses got annoyed with each other and whinnied in an aggressive way. I
didn't see what happened but it was clear that the horses...show more content...
I took a few deep breaths and forced myself not to panic.
Then, as though something had awoken inside me, I pulled a little harder to the left and the
horse's head actually turned. I nudged its side while steering, willing the horse to change
direction. The cool air and rushing of the river was starting to calm me down. My horse walked
towards the rest of the group, most of whom were also having issues with their horses. When we
had all formed a line and were heading out. I was still a bit nervous, but then it hit me. I had more
experience than most of the people riding horses. I could do most things on a horse; walk, trot,
canter, stop, turn. That was all I really needed. I smiled to myself. It was going to be okay. With
the soothing sounds of the river and forest, the fresh breeze on my face, I felt like, as long as the
horses didn't get scared and start galloping, I would be fine. I started to space out, not
concentrating on keeping my back straight, or keeping my hips, neck, and ankles in line. I was too
busy looking around and stroking my horses warm, soft neck. My saddle lured me into a dazed state
– I wasn't really thinking about anything, and since I had no one to talk to, I

Horse Training Research Paper
When a yearling runs "wild" with a large herd of horses without imprinting at birth by humans, it
makes it much more difficult to train and bond with them without professional guidance. I suggest
hiring a horse trainer that specializes in breaking horses and raising colts/fillies. Young horses can
be dangerous if not trained correctly.
Ask your close horse friends for natural horsemanship trainer recommendations, hire one who is
patient, loving and confident around horses. Your young colt needs an alpha leader to feel safe
and secure, once you learn how to do so, you will be able to earn his trust and love at a spiritual
level. When you select a trainer ask the trainer if you can be a part of the training so your horse will

Horses
There are many different horse species. Some are bigger or smaller than others. Some are white,
brown, black, or even multi colored! Horses are a very beautiful creatures.
Horses at first we considered wild animals such as zebras are today. Even though they first evolved
in north america horses had become extinct in North America. All living horses lived in central
america and they ate the long grass that grew there. Also they ate native apples and carrots. That is
why horses love carrots and apples these days. Whenever people first arrived in central america the
actually hunted horses for their meat and skin and made leather hides and clothes for their families.
Around the 4000 BC central americans decided to tame horses to pull farm equipment, and for
transportation. The first horse were too small to carry people so they tried to pulled wagons. The
first wagon tried to be pulled by a small horse did not turn out very well, the horse was trying to go
down a hill and the horse did not have enough power to hold the wagon back and the wagon
tumbled over the horse and flipped the wagon. After that incident people decided to breed bigger
horses for the bigger wagons. Soon the idea of using horses and wagons to carry people and supplies
began to spread out of central america. Horses were even used in the wars. Horses were a big part

Descriptive Essay About Horses
My Symbol
Everyone has a symbol, something that has come to represent all that they are and all that they
hope to become. To understand the true heart and soul of a person, one must first understand who it
is that they hope to become. As George Bernard Shaw once said, "Life is not about finding yourself,
it is about creating yourself." All people have something they strive toward and hope to become.
Horses have become for me the symbol of everything I want to be in life, strength, determination, and
compassion.
Throughout the ages horses have been a powerful symbol of strength and fearlessness. Equines are
some of the mightiest creatures in the world. It was the strength of the horse that helped to
revolutionize the world as we know it. Able to carry over thirty percent of their body weight and
pull over one hundred and fifty percent of their body weight, horses are an impressive symbol of
physical strength. Many stories and paintings have depicted the incredible power that horses
represent. Correspondingly, Job 39:19–22 says, "Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck
with a flowing mane? Do you make it leap like a locust, striking terror with its proud snorting? It
paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength, and charges into the fray. It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing;
it does not shy away from the sword." Yet what inspires me most about their wonderful animals is
not their physical qualities, it is simply the fact that horses of all shapes, sizes, and

Crazy Horse Essay
Crazy Horse
The European settlement of North America met its fiercest opponent, the Lakota also known as the
Western Sioux, who inhabited most of the Great Plains. The Oglala tribe, a branch of the Sioux
nation were key in the resistance against the white man. At the heart of their resistance stood crazy
horse, a warrior that had no equal. Crazy Horse fought for the traditions of his people, until those
same people wearied of war and in some cases, turned against him. Chief Crazy Horse led an
extraordinary life and will always be remembered. Crazy Horse was born in the fall of 1841 to the
Hunkpatila band of the Oglala tribe of the Sioux Nation. At the time of his birth, his band was

In 1854 Curly visited the Brules' camp with his tribe. There he was introduced to the Brule Chief
Conquering Bear. While visiting, a young Brule warrior shot an old near death cow belonging to a
man from a Mormon wagon train. The Mormon was furious and demanded the warrior be turned
over. Conquering Bear refused and soon Second Leuteneant John Grattan, 29 soldiers, two Howitzer
cannons, and an interpreter were sent to retrieve the young Indian. Conquering Bear still refused to
turn him over. During all of this Curly is watching atop a cliff. The soldiers began firing into the
Brule camp. Conquering Bear fell to the ground mortally wounded (McMurtry 48–62). This scene
deeply affected Curly and made him decide that it was time to have his vision quest. Without
performing any of the customary preparations Curly sets off to a sacred hill overlooking Platte
River. By mid–afternoon on the third day curly still has not seen anything and returns thinking he
has failed. Dizzy and fatigued from not sleeping or eating for three days he trips and stumbles, but
as he falls he feels the spirits lifting him up. His eyes open and his vision is exceptionally sharp.
He sees a warrior that tells him to disregard most Sioux traditions such as wearing a war bonnet,
painting his horse, and tying the horses tail

Research Paper On Horse
The horse (Equus ferus caballus)[2][3] is one of two extant subspecies of Equus ferus. It is an
odd–toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae. The horse has evolved
over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi–toed creature, Eohippus, into the large,
single–toed animal of today. Humans began to domesticate horses around 4000 BC, and their
domestication is believed to have been widespread by 3000 BC. Horses in the subspecies caballus
are domesticated, although some domesticated populations live in the wild as feral horses. These
feral populations are not true wild horses, as this term is used to describe horses that have never
been domesticated, such as the endangered Przewalski's horse, a separate subspecies, and the only
remaining true wild horse. There is an extensive, specialized vocabulary used to describe
equine–related concepts, covering everything from anatomy to life stages, size, colors, markings,
breeds, locomotion, and behavior.
Horses' anatomy enables them to make use of speed to escape predators and they have a
well–developed sense of balance and a strong fight–or–flight response. Related to this need to flee
from predators in the wild is an unusual trait: horses are able to sleep both standing up and lying
down. Female horses, called mares, carry their young for...show more content...

The game looks good, but there are better looking games out there. It's also not packed to the
rafters with visual extras like other games are. Despite this it's still possible to find yourself scoring
lots of free spins if your unicorn or horse is the better equine. As you'd expect from a Novomatic
title the variance is medium–high. There will be the occasional down–spell where it seems like you
can't win anything, this up and downs nature of game really does make a Wild Horses a true wild
ride.
Hats and whips at the ready
Gameplay wise, this title stands by the traditional Novomatic control system, in the sense that it is
easy to understand. Neatly slotted in below the reels at the bottom of the screen, you'll be able to
tweak the game through a select number buttons. Spin, Line, and more can all be tapped to your

The controls aren't as simple as you would think: for example, you have to time breaking through
the gates. It isn't a button masher at all, but the controls are a bit complicated, and the same can
be said with the mechanics. You need to control your horse's speed by tapping on the "up" arrow
on the screen and make sure it stays in the "good" area of the speed bar. You may also change your
horse's direction in the track, but be sure to stay near the rails!
Despite being a freemium game and having numerous microtransactions, the game doesn't shove it
into your face. Moreover, the overall aesthetics and presentation are satisfactory, but not excellent.
The user interface also shines, considering you won't find navigating through the tabs difficult at all,
but it will need some time getting used to. The recommended section is also there to help guide you
throughout the numerous processes.
Compared to other horse racing games on mobile platforms, iHorse Racing shines in the racing and
raising aspects. With decent graphics and immersive gameplay, this game is a must–have for both
fans of the sport and casual gamers. Despite the steep learning curve, the racing mechanics are
simple enough and can provide countless hours of fun and

Descriptive Essay On Horse Riding
Moving at a fast speed almost 30 mph on the back of a horse has always been my dream. Feeling
the connection between the horse and I. I felt like I was on top of the world and knowing that I
had completed one of my goals in life to learn to ride a race horse was what really made it so
much better. "How could anyone hate this?" Then it hit me. It literally hit me. I saw nothing but
pitch black. I had awoken to sirens. My sight being blurry didn't help me at all as I was conflicted
not knowing where I was. I was frightened. I tried to move but really could not as my body was in
a tremendous amount of pain. But, let me tell you how I even got into that situation. I was thirteen
years old when I decided that I wanted to learn how to ride race horses. I don't know what it was
about horse riding but, it always seemed very interesting to me. Just the idea of being able to ride
was amazing. My father knew horses very well too ,for he had now been training horses for 18
years, so, I asked him if maybe he can teach me how to ride since he was so great at it. When I
first got on that horse, man I felt great. The feeling of me doing what I have been wanting to do
was a feeling that is hard to describe, it's almost as if I've been looking for something to do in life
and this was it. My father wasn't my father anymore when it came to me learning how to ride. He
was my teacher, an instructor. He woke me up every morning to get me ready for the day, it was a
bit hard though waking up early when I was so used to being in bed past eight. Every single day I
got up, showered and trained with my father. The big day was coming up and I was more excited
than I usually was...this was it. The moment I have been waiting for since I was young.
Although all of the training was tiring it was worth the effort because I knew I was going to do my
best.
A week before the day my father wanted to sit down and talk to me and deep down I felt like he
was going to tell me how proud he is of me and how far I have come to achieve what I been
wanting to do but he didn't. Instead he said, "We have to work much harder and longer than what
we have been, no complaining." I just looked at him because even as much as I wanted to hear him
say that he was

Horseback Riding Essay
Horseback riding is a sport that many people typically filter under "not a real sport". However, it is
quite the opposite. Horseback riding can be a very intense sport or a leisure activity for the
weekends. Either way, the human body improves because of horseback riding. Not only have studies
proven the health benefits–both mental and physical, but personal experience has emphasized the
importance of this sport. Horseback riding is a sport that everyone should try as it helps improves
both your mental and physical health. Many people believe horseback riding only exercises the

The physical aspect of the body is not the only thing that becomes stronger. Horseback riding also
strengthens a person's mental health. Horses are by no means small animals. They have the power
to hurt a person but instead they allow humans to be their friends. This relationship between a
horse and his or her rider allows for people to let their walls down and "is incredibly empowering"
(Leichman) for a rider. Horseback riding also has been found to "enhance self–confidence, behavior,
and communication in children and adults suffering from physical, neurological and emotional
difficulties" (Leichman). For example, post–traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a type of neurological
and emotional difficulty, in veterans have more recently been brought to light as a problem in the
United States. Mayo Clinic describes PTSD as "a mental health condition that's triggered by a
terrifying event" (Mayo Clinic Staff) and symptoms "include flashbacks, nightmares, and severe
anxiety" (Mayo Clinic Staff). The U.S Department of Veteran Affairs details an experience made
possible by Joe Grimard who works at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital as a
recreational therapist. "Each week, Grimard drives four to six Veterans out to nearby Strongwater
Farm, where they get to ride horses for free." (Cramer) Each of these veterans are current
participants of a ninety–day program, so the horseback riding gives veterans an

Descriptive Essay On Horse Riding
I was a small seven year old child visiting Korea with my family when I rode a horse for the very
first time. As soon as I sat in the cushioned leather saddle, I was nervous yet excited to be riding
such a large animal as I had seen many times on television before. I will never forget every detail of
those few moments in the saddle from the foreign smell of the horse to the sound of the horse's
hoofbeats as the horse cautiously treaded as if it knew that I was scared. As soon as I got back to
America, I tried to convince my parents to let me start horseback riding. After over three years of
pleading and begging, my parents finally agreed to let me start horseback riding. One of my
preconceived notions about horseback riding was that it would be easy. You just sit there, right?
The effortlessness of equestrians and the connection that they share with their horses is truly
special and hard to understand because it is an unbreakable bond between horse and rider, an
unspoken language. Besides the countless lessons I have learned about life while being an
equestrian, horseback riding has tremendously improved my work ethic. Because horseback riding
is quite financially costly, it was very difficult for my parents to continue funding my horseback
riding career. As a result, I had no decision but to work for my lessons under different trainers,
working past sunset even on school nights. Despite the challenging financial obstacles I had to
overcome, I competed in local and regional

remarkable animal, with an amazing history, the American Quarter Horse can easily spring roughly
Вј times faster than other horse breeds. Originally created for competing in quarter races several
centuries ago (thus the name of the breed), the Quarter Horse is one of the most complex, and
beloved horse in America, if not in the world.
Very adaptable and with a gentle, thou resistant nature, the breed gained recognition only in 1940,
and soon after, the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) was formed. Then the American
Quarter Horse Museum and the American Quarter Horse Congress were created, as follow–up of the
breed's increasing popularity. Excellent for pleasure, cattle and racing, this horse has it all, so it's no
wonder that everyone loves him so much.
Short History of the American Quarter Horse
Quarter Horse comes from the Quarter Mile races organized by the first English colonists....show

Choosing and then taking care of a horse, is no easy peasy, so before purchasing it, think wisely.
You will find lots of American Quarter Horses for sale, on websites and at different ranches, but
our advice would be to be very careful when it comes to the horse's pedigree, the show's it took
part in, the farm in which it was grown, etc. While looking for your future horse, you may see the
word Appendix. An appendix is a specimen that isn't completely purebred and is usually a
crossbreed of Quarter and Thoroughbred. These horses are considered Quarters, but they are
registered in a special system which is the Appendix. Once again, you need to decide the main
reason for buying the horse, as for example, the Appendix horses have breeding restrictions.
Appendix horses are only allowed to breed with regular numbered horses and they cannot breed with
Thoroughbred or other Appendix

  • 1. My Experience Of Riding Horses I sat perched on a horse, named Sysco, waiting as the rest of the group in the arena mounted. I looked out at the sight I never got sick of, a horse's neck up. I saw the two ears, mane, forelock, and head. The silky mane just waiting to be brushed. The face that is the best part of a horse, with it's dark, caring eyes waiting to know what you are about to do, and it's mouth that munches on sweet treats and hay. The bridle leading to my hands, the horn, and the front of the Western saddle were also in the beautiful sight in front of me. I was at a mother–daughter horse camp, at Kidder Creek, a place near the Oregon border. I was 10 years old, with my love of horses growing each day. Horses were my favorite animals, and my experience...show more content... Would the same happen to me? We also walked around the arena, near the edge. The entire time, I was living the moment, remembering the moment, saving the moment. I didn't want my dream to end, so I enjoyed it and preserved it while it was still happening. "I think you are ready to trot," the instructor said. All the sudden my almost empty mind flooded with thoughts. Were we ready? What does trotting feel like? Will I be able to get Sysco to trot? My mind flashed back to a scary moment. A family friend had two horses, but they were not trained too much. I was riding off a lead line for the first time, and we were just going around their big house. I was riding Jesse, a coal black coated horse. I was about to finish a circle when Jesse started going faster. He started trotting. It was only a few moments, but the trot felt as fast as American Pharoah, the Triple crown race horse, and as bouncy as popcorn popping in a pan. The trot was something I wanted to do on purpose, not suddenly. My horse stood at the arena wall, watching as the instructor showed us how to trot. "You go into a walk, the squeeze your legs until the horse trots," she explained. It is just like getting into a walk, just starting a gait faster. I watched as the first person of the group went. Her horse looked beautiful as it trotted. There is just something about horses when the move, with their gleaming silky tails flowing out behind them, their body moving with a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Legend Of Horse Essay During my years in elementary school, my mother would tell me the story of the Chinese zodiac around the time of the Lunar New Year without fail. The story goes like this. The Jade Emperor ordered that animals would become the twelve calendar signs. These slots would be given to the twelve animals that arrived first the next day. Mouse finished the race first by hitching a ride on Ox and then jumping in front of him at the last moment. Tiger and Rabbit finished third and fourth, respectively, shortly after Ox. Dragon, who was delayed because of his compassionate nature, finished fifth. Horse was on track to finishing sixth, but fell backwards out of fright when Snake appeared from his hiding spot on Horse's hoof. As such, Snake finished sixth and horse seventh. Goat, Monkey, and Rooster finished eighth, ninth, and tenth. Dog and Pig finished eleventh and twelfth. I've now learned that like the horse in the story, I am constantly being cheated of a more favorable position because of the...show more content... It felt as if all the adults who I tried to impress had suddenly formed an alliance with the sole purpose to strike me down. Every so often there would be a "Stop talking, you must not blurt!" from my mother when I had barely spoken, or a "Give another person a chance, don't be so selfish!" from my father after I had waited in line. I began to notice other changes as well. The opportunities that I once saw to establish myself were still there, but they seemed to be closed off and restricted. Where I once saw glory in surpassing others, I only saw shame. It became even worse over time. When I looked at myself or others, I didn't even see people anymore. I saw a collection of masks that were used to hide people's true natures in order for them to gain mainstream approval. Even as my grades slip as a result, I still have not been able to shake these Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Morgan Horse Research Papers Every young girl grows up wishing her parents would buy her a pony. Riding horses is a passion that many people share. Riding a horse can provide a freedom unlike anything else. The bonds between horse and rider can become so strong it is amazing they cannot talk. There are two types of breeds that stand out among the rest: The Morgan horse and the Arabian. These two breeds are unlike any other because of their size, yet they are also some of the most hard–working, free–spirited horses bred. The Morgan breed is intelligent, willing and eager. Morgans are known for their upright necks, distinctive dished faces, and their wildly expressive eyes. They are small, compact horses with a lot of muscle ("Morgan Breed Description"). The Arabian breed...show more content... It is not a proven fact, yet it is thought that the colt's mother was an Arabian and father was a Thoroughbred. Justin Morgan named him Figure, and although Figure was not as big as most the other horses Justin worked with, he proved to be the strongest. Justin entered Figure into races also; he was much smaller but almost always finished first. Word spread of this little horse's glory and many started to breed their mares with this outstanding Stallion. And the breed was named after the owner who started it all, Justin Morgan ("The History of the Morgan Horse"). Now the Arabian horse has a very different background. The Arabian is the oldest known breed of horse. They are said to have come from the deserts of the Middle East. They are now one of the most wanted breeds in America. They lived along the Arabian Peninsula, bred by the Bedouins as war horses that could make long journeys or quick escapes. Because of the harsh conditions in the desert, they grew large lungs and indescribable endurance for any animal (Welcome to Arabian Horses.org– Education). The Morgan may have been part Arabian, which ties these two breeds together (The History of the Morgan Horse). Both are small, yet have never–ending production of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. The Evolution of a Horse Essay The Evolution of a Horse Throughout history, humans have depended on the horse. Horses have contributed to the growth of humankind as transportation, farm workers, and battle steeds. They have been trained to support humans in many ways. When did this relationship begin? At what point did the horse become a vital part of human society? Exploring the evolution of the horse can help to answer these questions. A mammal with hooves that have an odd number of toes on the rear feet are known as odd–toed ungulates. The middle toe on each rear hoof is usually larger than the ones next to them. Horses are members of the odd–toed ungulates which includes the horses, tapirs, and rhinoceroses. They are relatively large grazing animals with...show more content... Four of the toes had early proto–hooves. The back legs had small hooves on three of the five toes. The toes were padded like a dog's toes. The Hyracotherium had three incisors, one canine, four premolars, and three grinding molars on each jaw, which was a typical tooth structure of early mammals who were omnivorous browsers (Hunt 4). Eohippus survived for about twenty million years with relatively few evolutionary changes (Wikipedia 7). These animals lived in a sub–tropical climate and ate soft fruits and the leaves of trees. During the middle to late Eocene and into the Oligocene epoch several other members of the equids, with distinct evolutionary changes, existed including the Orohippus, Epihippus, Mesohippus, and Miohippus. The Orohippus developed from the Hyracotherium and shared many of the same traits. One major change was that the first and second toes disappeared. Another significant change occurred in the teeth. The last premolar changed to become like a grinding molar. Also the crests were more defined showing that the Orohippus's diet had changed to a tougher plant material. During the middle Eocene a descendant of Orohippus appeared. The Epihippus still resembled a dog–like animal. It had four padded toes on the front leg, and three on the back leg. However, the teeth changed more drastically with two of the premolars changing to grinding molars. Now there were five grinding cheek teeth with low crowns. As Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Horse Essay : The Trojan Horse The Trojan Horse The Trojan horse could be considered a gateway to the Greeks success. It was a brilliant invention thought of by Odysseus, but built by a man named Epeius, a master carpenter and pugilist. Epeius was a man of great skill who had a brilliant mind. He took on the task of building this massive giant to life. In total, completing the task in only three days. In that time, the Trojan Horse was the Greek's idea of a sneak attack. It was a novel idea, something not expected, a way to finally end the ten–year epic battle between the Greeks and the Trojans, that led to the fall of Troy, all thanks to a noted "peace offering" from the Greeks. Book Two of Virgil's TheAeneid gives us some insight into what happened on that dreaded, or for some, marvelous day. We know what the Trojan Horse stood for, but what did it look like? Once can assume that it is called the Trojan Horse because of the representation of a horse. But what did a horse that held around 40 soldiers. Some sources say as few as 35, others say as many as 60. Inscribed on the horse it was written "For their return home, the Greeks dedicate this offering to Athena." The Trojan Horse had to be large enough to break down the walls of Troy, both in width and height. Scholars say the beast had to be around 10 feet wide and 25 feet tall. Empty, weighing 2 tons, being more than doubled when filled with soldiers. • 6. Argumentative Essay About Horses If you've ever owned an animal, you know that being around them can be extremely therapeutic. After a stressful day at work or school, it is always nice to come home to your pet and feel comforted by them. Many dog owners even claim that their dogs can feel their pain. However, if you speak to anyone who has been spent their life around horses, they'll tell you that the connection between horse and rider is unlike any other. Norwegian researcher Anita Maurstad explains in a recent article, that over time horse and rider can become so attuned to each other that they develop a state of co–being. Maurstad also found, through research, that horses appear to learn to relate to humans in ways that provide them with a good quality of life. A recent study from Washington State university has concluded that kids who work with horses have significantly lower stress levels. In addition to these, there have been numerous other studies that show that working with horses decreases blood pressure, reduced feelings of anger, tension, and anxiety. Riding horses also allows you to gain feelings of self esteem, empowerment, patience, and trust. Because of the overwhelming positive effects that horses seem to have, horses are no longer being used just for recreational or agricultural...show more content... However, they don't feel threatened by the more vulnerable human emotions such as sadness and loneliness. Horses can sense the feelings in us that are often out of our conscious awareness and, thus, give us information about ourselves. They mirror our feelings back to us through their body language, therefore, they teach us how we impact those around us. For example if a patient begins to get angry with a horse and loses their temper, they will be able to see the horse recoil which gives the patient a clear understanding of the effect their emotions can Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. What Is The Experience Of A Horse Riding Essay I had gone horse riding before Altai, but not since I was about 10 or 11 years old. Even then, when I was riding regularly, I still got nervous before mounting the horses. The riding instructors were not very nice to the horses and they got scared extremely easily because of that. I had nearly fallen off multiple times and those memories still shake me up today. So in this trip I was terrified of falling off the horses if they got freaked out. When we were due to pick our horses, I was really nervous. As the instructor was demonstrating how to turn the horse (the horse did not look happy at all doing it), some of the horses got annoyed with each other and whinnied in an aggressive way. I didn't see what happened but it was clear that the horses...show more content... I took a few deep breaths and forced myself not to panic. Then, as though something had awoken inside me, I pulled a little harder to the left and the horse's head actually turned. I nudged its side while steering, willing the horse to change direction. The cool air and rushing of the river was starting to calm me down. My horse walked towards the rest of the group, most of whom were also having issues with their horses. When we had all formed a line and were heading out. I was still a bit nervous, but then it hit me. I had more experience than most of the people riding horses. I could do most things on a horse; walk, trot, canter, stop, turn. That was all I really needed. I smiled to myself. It was going to be okay. With the soothing sounds of the river and forest, the fresh breeze on my face, I felt like, as long as the horses didn't get scared and start galloping, I would be fine. I started to space out, not concentrating on keeping my back straight, or keeping my hips, neck, and ankles in line. I was too busy looking around and stroking my horses warm, soft neck. My saddle lured me into a dazed state – I wasn't really thinking about anything, and since I had no one to talk to, I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Horse Training Research Paper When a yearling runs "wild" with a large herd of horses without imprinting at birth by humans, it makes it much more difficult to train and bond with them without professional guidance. I suggest hiring a horse trainer that specializes in breaking horses and raising colts/fillies. Young horses can be dangerous if not trained correctly. Ask your close horse friends for natural horsemanship trainer recommendations, hire one who is patient, loving and confident around horses. Your young colt needs an alpha leader to feel safe and secure, once you learn how to do so, you will be able to earn his trust and love at a spiritual level. When you select a trainer ask the trainer if you can be a part of the training so your horse will come respect Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Evolution Of Horses Essay Kelsey Farris Mrs. Dwiggins Computers 1 24 October 2014 Horses There are many different horse species. Some are bigger or smaller than others. Some are white, brown, black, or even multi colored! Horses are a very beautiful creatures. Horses at first we considered wild animals such as zebras are today. Even though they first evolved in north america horses had become extinct in North America. All living horses lived in central america and they ate the long grass that grew there. Also they ate native apples and carrots. That is why horses love carrots and apples these days. Whenever people first arrived in central america the actually hunted horses for their meat and skin and made leather hides and clothes for their families. Around the 4000 BC central americans decided to tame horses to pull farm equipment, and for transportation. The first horse were too small to carry people so they tried to pulled wagons. The first wagon tried to be pulled by a small horse did not turn out very well, the horse was trying to go down a hill and the horse did not have enough power to hold the wagon back and the wagon tumbled over the horse and flipped the wagon. After that incident people decided to breed bigger horses for the bigger wagons. Soon the idea of using horses and wagons to carry people and supplies began to spread out of central america. • 10. Descriptive Essay About Horses My Symbol Everyone has a symbol, something that has come to represent all that they are and all that they hope to become. To understand the true heart and soul of a person, one must first understand who it is that they hope to become. As George Bernard Shaw once said, "Life is not about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself." All people have something they strive toward and hope to become. Horses have become for me the symbol of everything I want to be in life, strength, determination, and compassion. Throughout the ages horses have been a powerful symbol of strength and fearlessness. Equines are some of the mightiest creatures in the world. It was the strength of the horse that helped to revolutionize the world as we know it. Able to carry over thirty percent of their body weight and pull over one hundred and fifty percent of their body weight, horses are an impressive symbol of physical strength. Many stories and paintings have depicted the incredible power that horses represent. Correspondingly, Job 39:19–22 says, "Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane? Do you make it leap like a locust, striking terror with its proud snorting? It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength, and charges into the fray. It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; it does not shy away from the sword." Yet what inspires me most about their wonderful animals is not their physical qualities, it is simply the fact that horses of all shapes, sizes, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The Oglala tribe, a branch of the Sioux nation were key in the resistance against the white man. At the heart of their resistance stood crazy horse, a warrior that had no equal. Crazy Horse fought for the traditions of his people, until those same people wearied of war and in some cases, turned against him. Chief Crazy Horse led an extraordinary life and will always be remembered. Crazy Horse was born in the fall of 1841 to the Hunkpatila band of the Oglala tribe of the Sioux Nation. The Mormon was furious and demanded the warrior be turned over. Conquering Bear refused and soon Second Leuteneant John Grattan, 29 soldiers, two Howitzer cannons, and an interpreter were sent to retrieve the young Indian. Conquering Bear still refused to turn him over. During all of this Curly is watching atop a cliff. The soldiers began firing into the Brule camp. Conquering Bear fell to the ground mortally wounded (McMurtry 48–62). This scene deeply affected Curly and made him decide that it was time to have his vision quest. Without performing any of the customary preparations Curly sets off to a sacred hill overlooking Platte River. By mid–afternoon on the third day curly still has not seen anything and returns thinking he has failed. Dizzy and fatigued from not sleeping or eating for three days he trips and stumbles, but as he falls he feels the spirits lifting him up. His eyes open and his vision is exceptionally sharp. He sees a warrior that tells him to disregard most Sioux traditions such as wearing a war bonnet, painting his horse, and tying the horses tail Get more content on HelpWriting.net

She is stubborn but so am I. The first time I rode her I rode bare back. It was about two or more weeks after we got her when I got on. Some people were surprised I could get on her. When we got a saddle I had to wait awhile to ride with a saddle because we didn't have everything. When I finally got to ride with a saddle it was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Research Paper On Horse The horse (Equus ferus caballus)[2][3] is one of two extant subspecies of Equus ferus. It is an odd–toed ungulate mammal belonging to the taxonomic family Equidae. The horse has evolved over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi–toed creature, Eohippus, into the large, single–toed animal of today. Humans began to domesticate horses around 4000 BC, and their domestication is believed to have been widespread by 3000 BC. Horses in the subspecies caballus are domesticated, although some domesticated populations live in the wild as feral horses. These feral populations are not true wild horses, as this term is used to describe horses that have never been domesticated, such as the endangered Przewalski's horse, a separate subspecies, and the only remaining true wild horse. There is an extensive, specialized vocabulary used to describe equine–related concepts, covering everything from anatomy to life stages, size, colors, markings, breeds, locomotion, and behavior. Horses' anatomy enables them to make use of speed to escape predators and they have a well–developed sense of balance and a strong fight–or–flight response. Related to this need to flee from predators in the wild is an unusual trait: horses are able to sleep both standing up and lying down. Female horses, called mares, carry their young for...show more content... Horses were historically used in warfare, from which a wide variety of riding and driving techniques developed, using many different styles of equipment and methods of control. Many products are derived from horses, including meat, milk, hide, hair, bone, and pharmaceuticals extracted from the urine of pregnant mares. It isn't a button masher at all, but the controls are a bit complicated, and the same can be said with the mechanics. You may also change your horse's direction in the track, but be sure to stay near the rails! Despite being a freemium game and having numerous microtransactions, the game doesn't shove it into your face. Moreover, the overall aesthetics and presentation are satisfactory, but not excellent. The user interface also shines, considering you won't find navigating through the tabs difficult at all, but it will need some time getting used to. The recommended section is also there to help guide you throughout the numerous processes. Compared to other horse racing games on mobile platforms, iHorse Racing shines in the racing and raising aspects. With decent graphics and immersive gameplay, this game is a must–have for both fans of the sport and casual gamers. • 17. Descriptive Essay On Horse Riding Moving at a fast speed almost 30 mph on the back of a horse has always been my dream. Feeling the connection between the horse and I. I felt like I was on top of the world and knowing that I had completed one of my goals in life to learn to ride a race horse was what really made it so much better. "How could anyone hate this?" Then it hit me. It literally hit me. I saw nothing but pitch black. I had awoken to sirens. My sight being blurry didn't help me at all as I was conflicted not knowing where I was. I was frightened. I tried to move but really could not as my body was in a tremendous amount of pain. But, let me tell you how I even got into that situation. I was thirteen years old when I decided that I wanted to learn how to ride race horses. I don't know what it was about horse riding but, it always seemed very interesting to me. Just the idea of being able to ride was amazing. My father knew horses very well too ,for he had now been training horses for 18 years, so, I asked him if maybe he can teach me how to ride since he was so great at it. When I first got on that horse, man I felt great. The feeling of me doing what I have been wanting to do was a feeling that is hard to describe, it's almost as if I've been looking for something to do in life and this was it. My father wasn't my father anymore when it came to me learning how to ride. He was my teacher, an instructor. He woke me up every morning to get me ready for the day, it was a bit hard though waking up early when I was so used to being in bed past eight. Every single day I got up, showered and trained with my father. The big day was coming up and I was more excited than I usually was...this was it. The moment I have been waiting for since I was young. Although all of the training was tiring it was worth the effort because I knew I was going to do my best. A week before the day my father wanted to sit down and talk to me and deep down I felt like he was going to tell me how proud he is of me and how far I have come to achieve what I been wanting to do but he didn't. Instead he said, "We have to work much harder and longer than what we have been, no complaining." I just looked at him because even as much as I wanted to hear him say that he was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Horseback Riding Essay Horseback riding is a sport that many people typically filter under "not a real sport". However, it is quite the opposite. Horseback riding can be a very intense sport or a leisure activity for the weekends. Either way, the human body improves because of horseback riding. Not only have studies proven the health benefits–both mental and physical, but personal experience has emphasized the importance of this sport. Horseback riding is a sport that everyone should try as it helps improves both your mental and physical health. Many people believe horseback riding only exercises the horse, but it also is great exercise for the person themselves. Some work is required before a person even gets in the saddle and on the horse. Catching,...show more content... The physical aspect of the body is not the only thing that becomes stronger. Horseback riding also strengthens a person's mental health. Horses are by no means small animals. They have the power to hurt a person but instead they allow humans to be their friends. This relationship between a horse and his or her rider allows for people to let their walls down and "is incredibly empowering" (Leichman) for a rider. Horseback riding also has been found to "enhance self–confidence, behavior, and communication in children and adults suffering from physical, neurological and emotional difficulties" (Leichman). For example, post–traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a type of neurological and emotional difficulty, in veterans have more recently been brought to light as a problem in the United States. Mayo Clinic describes PTSD as "a mental health condition that's triggered by a terrifying event" (Mayo Clinic Staff) and symptoms "include flashbacks, nightmares, and severe anxiety" (Mayo Clinic Staff). The U.S Department of Veteran Affairs details an experience made possible by Joe Grimard who works at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital as a recreational therapist. "Each week, Grimard drives four to six Veterans out to nearby Strongwater Farm, where they get to ride horses for free." (Cramer) Each of these veterans are current participants of a ninety–day program, so the horseback riding gives veterans an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Descriptive Essay On Horse Riding I was a small seven year old child visiting Korea with my family when I rode a horse for the very first time. As soon as I sat in the cushioned leather saddle, I was nervous yet excited to be riding such a large animal as I had seen many times on television before. I will never forget every detail of those few moments in the saddle from the foreign smell of the horse to the sound of the horse's hoofbeats as the horse cautiously treaded as if it knew that I was scared. As soon as I got back to America, I tried to convince my parents to let me start horseback riding. After over three years of pleading and begging, my parents finally agreed to let me start horseback riding. One of my preconceived notions about horseback riding was that it would be easy. You just sit there, right? The effortlessness of equestrians and the connection that they share with their horses is truly special and hard to understand because it is an unbreakable bond between horse and rider, an unspoken language. Besides the countless lessons I have learned about life while being an equestrian, horseback riding has tremendously improved my work ethic. Because horseback riding is quite financially costly, it was very difficult for my parents to continue funding my horseback riding career. As a result, I had no decision but to work for my lessons under different trainers, working past sunset even on school nights. Despite the challenging financial obstacles I had to overcome, I competed in local and regional Get more content on HelpWriting.net
