9/11 Descriptive Writing
The applause of lightning shakes me to the very core, the anticipation of what's to come and
more. The pelting liquids, washing our sins away. Blocks of destruction tower over the flat rock
where the toxic monsters prowl and roar. My black bag feels heavy against my pale, numb
fingers. My damp hair sticks to my itchy neck, red with my groping long nails. Red bricks, wet
and blurry, dark pavements, moist and slippery. Everything was doused in this unforgiving cold
attack. Middle class shops were placed everywhere, conveniently providing shelter. Dark leaves
shuddered violently against the harsh winds, birds no longer poised and positioned on long
branches, where they used to sing. Click, clack. Click, clack. My shoes let out a silent echo...show

A knife had grazed it, given the thinness and deepness of it. A sharp one I suppose. If the victim
was killed, then the killer might have at least disposed of the body. Another possibility is that he
was in a rush, or someone caught him in the act. I picked up a brush, careful not to disturb the
precious DNA contained in the delicate dark hairs. Bringing a knife to the fight, that's unfair,
looks like the murderer took flight after blood was spilled. I grab the bottle that I refilled, took a big
swig, and set it down on a dark wood coffee

Descriptive And Prescriptive Grammar
Introduction In this essay I will discuss the definition of the concept grammar in linguistic science
and thee attitude teachers may have towards such a conceptualization of what grammar is. I will
go into detail by explaining perspective and descriptive grammar. Descriptive Grammar The first
thing that I will be discussing is the definition of descriptive grammar. A descriptive grammar is a
set of rules about language based on how it is actually used. It can relate with a prescriptive
grammar, which is a set of rules based on how people think language should be used. Specialists in
descriptive grammar (linguists) examine the principles and patterns that underlie the use of words,
phrases, clauses, and sentences. In contrast, prescriptive...show more content...
Examples of prescriptive grammar rules can be found in practically every guide to "good"
language usage, grammar rule book, or grammar guide. Teacher's attitude towards grammar
Grammar has always been an important issue in second and foreign language learning and
teaching. Some hold the view that grammar is not essential for second/foreign language learning
and therefore have a 'zero position' regarding grammar teaching. On the other hand, some view
that grammar is necessary for second/foreign language learning. There is often confusion between
what is prescriptively correct under the rules of standard English grammar within different
varieties, which results in various options for classroom grammar teaching for second language
learners. In the classroom relating to descriptive grammar learners can be encouraged to move
away from a prescriptive approach to grammar by using a guided discovery in which they look for
examples of variations in use in authentic texts. These examples can be compared to prescriptive
rules in order to decide if they are useful or

Descriptive Essay About The Ocean
The comforting white clouds stretched and darkened swirling themselves into a silvery metallic
vortex. Majestic and alive a giant eye looked down upon me, with a menacing gleam, like it wanted
to toy with me then changed its mind due to the mere insignificance within its domain, and more
important business for itself. My tiny body amid this vast, strange universe, staring at the gunmetal
clouds, overcome with motion sickness that I had never experienced before. Otherworldly, the
impossible spinning waves tunneled through my cells, and with it this time – the smell of death. It
slammed me like a copper truck creating a hole to dump its load of rotten eggs, human waste,
cheap perfume, and rotting meat that my cells felt they exploded from the inside out. It ignited a
force of nausea in me so intense my head jerked, and I blew out blood, vomit, and a silvery black
ooze into my regulator. I kept purging the exhaust valve of excess blood, vomit, and liquid metal.
The distinct smell of death became a taste I couldn't expel. An unholy taste of metallic death. The
different spinning double waves pummeled through me shattering my core by its opposing
directions. Bright, iridescent metallic flashes outlined every wave's form; inside an inner beast
made of hematite black. But why? Why is the ocean changing? The ocean, my friend? Into what,
and what was it changing me into? I tried to grasp it as if it was on the tip of my tongue, but it
wasn't, I couldn't know this at all. I

Descriptive Personal Experience Essay
I was in my room listening to music. My room would normally have a very serene feeling to it.
My room had a beautiful dream catcher hanging on the wall and there was also a very big
window that made it possible for me to see the moon every night. I always felt very relaxed in my
room, but that day I could hear the screaming and arguing between my mom and my dad in the
background. It was horrible. I could feel my eyes starting to water because I hated hearing my
parents fight. The fighting and arguing continued for days. On one evening I could hear the voices
of my parents arguing with my brothers. I was in my room as always and I started to feel room
getting really hot. The noises and everything else around me made me feel very...show more content...
"I haven 't been feeling so great lately",I said in a soft tone. My mom glanced at me with a very
puzzled expression on her face.
"What do you mean? Are you sick?", she asked with confusion in her voice.
"No, I mean I don't know I just haven 't been feeling too great emotionally i guess.", I responded in
a very little voice because I thought that maybe she would think that I was crazy. Once I said that
my mom stopped folding all of the laundry.
"Since when?", my mom asked with a very surprised tone.
"Maybe like 3 months.", I responded. "What! Three months why didn't you tell me".
" I didn't tell you because I thought you wouldn't understand.", I said in a tone that almost sounded
annoyed, which I think I might have been.
" I think you should go to the doctor.", she told me. I didn't want to go to the doctor, but I knew
that it would most likely help me. A couple days later I went to the doctor and he just asked me a
bunch of questions. One of the questions was, what did it feel like to have an anxiety attack. That
was probably one of the hardest questions i had ever had to answer. I couldn 't find the right words
to describe how it felt. As he kept asking me questions he would write things down. I couldn't help
but wonder what he was writing down. I would keep having the thought that maybe he was writing
down all of the bad things. After the doctor stopped talking to me he started to talk to my mom
about ways to help

Descriptive Essay On A Great Vacation
I was sitting on a hot steamy white sand beach where the ocean was washing into the shore. Cinque
Terre was a nice vacation spot to chill, relax, and go for a swim. Ninety–Five degree weather all day
long, everyday. My family and I were staying in a small, no air–conditioning house with only 3
bedrooms. During our sleep, we forget to close the windows so little lizards come into our house
and crawl up our walls. Cinque Terre is a great vacation spot for many family activities! Our first
day in a new country, I was having a great time so far! We ran down to the beach and swam for the
whole day. Some local people were hiking up the side of a mountain from the ocean. We noticed
there was a large platform that they created at three top. Us as a whole family wanted to
adventure up to the platform to see what all of the commotion was. Then as we reached the top of
the cliff, people were jumping off and diving, doing all sorts of tricks. We decided to jump as
well, this was a fun activity for us. As we continued hiking to a "higher spot" we found out that
there was several different platforms on the mountain. People even made a small rocky path for
people to walk up to. The tallest platform was too high for anyone to go on, but we went on the
second highest one which was still very scary. On the top of the mountain, we can see all around
the town of Cinque Terre. Also when we looked down at the clear sea water, we can see all the
way to the bottom and see the white sand. Sometimes fish will stroll by and we can see them swim
around our area.
The next day in Cinque Terre was a beautiful day. Theocean waves were rolling in, the bright sun
was shining high. As we were exploring the town looking for activities to do, a friendly tourist
came up to us and told us all about the things him and his family has done for the past week. This
gave us some ideas. We were told to go hiking. Scuba Dive. Explore all the local towns. Or enjoy a
nice day at the beach. Since we have already spent time at the beach we decided to just walk around
the many towns and enjoy our last day their. As we werewalking around one of the neighboring
towns of Cinque Terre, we remembered our local guide man told us about hiking. We found a small

Descriptive Essay On The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby, by Francis Scott Fitzgerald is an amazing novel that thank god it was turn into
a movie. It is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. Probably because it starts one of my
favorites actors of all time like the great Leonardo DiCaprio. Being that this novel is so well
known, so there is going to be many opinions about it. There is an extra of material that has been
written on The Great Gatsby. To me one of the most interesting aspect that The Great Gatsby brings
is the setting, which is during the 1920's, and how this movie represents the life of the great
Fitzgerald during this same time period. "In the 1920's and 1930s F. Scott Fitzgerald was equally
famous as a writer and as a celebrity author whose lifestyle seemed to symbolize the two decades"
(Fitzgerald, p. 2147). The movie is narrated by Nick Carraway, who moved to New York from the
mid–west. Nick moved to West Egg, which is a place where rich people lived. He bought a small
house next to none other than Jay Gatsby mansion. Nick is later invited by Gatsby itself to one of
his parties, where Gatsby tells Nick that him and Daisy were in love while Gatsby was in the war.
Later Nick arranged a meeting between Gatsby and Daisy, who turned out to be Nick's cousin.
Daisy's husband, Tom get suspicious of daisy's affair with Gatsby. Because of this, Tom arranged a
meeting to confront Gatsby in a hotel room. On the way back from this confrontation, Gatsby and
Daisy get into an accident killing Myrtle

I'm going to describe a girl for you, try to keep up. Long light brown hair, vintage classy glasses,
one lonely dimple on the lower part of her mouth, soft pale skin, stone cold stare, and a dry sense
of humor. Can you picture her? Well if you can, then you've basically just met me. I usually try to
force a smile, wait no scratch that– I used to try to force a smile. Now I'm not saying this so that you
can view me as unhappy or negative, but in all fairness who has a smile as their natural way of
expression. By all means, my personality, interests, and hobbies are the fundamental building blocks
to the life I choose to live.
Is it too cliche to say that I am a teenage girl with big insecurities, an addiction with comparing
myself to others, and deepening trust issues? Well if it is, then add being cliche to the list. I guess
you can say my insecurities originate from the fact that my biggest critic is my own mother. From
the earliest years of elementary up till this present day, it was either my wardrobe, my posture, or
my way of speaking that gained the attention of my mother's judgmental eye. Eventually, the
criticism started to slip out of my own mouth, and that's when I began to compare myself to others.
I'm not oblivious to how unhealthy this makes me, but when I am told that I need to be better
(basically my entire life), it's easy to fall into unhealthy habits. Speaking of unhealthy habits, having
trust issues seems to be my main one. As I grew older and entered the

Descriptive Essay On A Pig
I was walking on the street when i saw this pig. It was pink with black spots on it. No one was
around that could have been its owner so I took it. I went to the store to get some supplies for the
pig. I was trying so hard to think of a name for it on my way home. I finally thought of it. I thought
to myself, Spots would be a good name. Then out of nowhere someone with a white shirt, ripped
black jeans, and jordan legend blues came and stole Spots from me. I didn't know what to do. i
didn't chase them i just walked home sadly. The next day i woke up got ready, and started
walking to school. On my way home i saw the person who i thought had stole my pig. They had
no pig next to them, behind them, in front of them. I looked around and saw my pig. He was all
alone in the trash can, whining. I went up to the man and asked him what the heck he was doing
to my pig. He said, "i lost my pig... so i stole yours because it looked like my old one." I thought to
myself. Could he be lying and just want the pig and he was going to do something with it? Why
doesn't he have the pig with him and it's in a garbage can. When he was walking out of the alley
where it was. I said, " what was your pigs name that you had?" He stuttered to reply, while trying
to think of a name. "Ummm her name is giana." he stated While he was saying her name he
started walking away like something was wrong. I couldn't hear the name he called her because
all i could hear was spots whining! I went to go pick up spots but she wouldn't let me, she was
trying to bite me. I was wondering why she didn't remember me. I was looking all over for the
man i just wanted to talk to him about what happened, or if it's his pig! I had to leave and go do
my homework. After about 3 hours of homework there was a pounding knock on my door. I was
home alone and my parents weren't supposed to be home for another hour. Maybe they got off
earlier than they usually do. I didn't answer it and they repeatedly did it. I looked through my
bedroom window and there the guy was! I didn't know him so i didn't go down stairs to open it.
While i was closing my curtains i heard the man say, " I see you little boy, now come open this door"
I acted like i couldn't hear him because

Descriptive Essay
It was a seemingly beautiful day as I drove on a joy ride in my bright blue sports car, with the
wind in my hair. This is an everyday activity for me. My friends would mock me saying, "You
spend more money on gas than you make working." I laughed to myself at the thought of jokes
amongst my friends. That happiness was soon halted. As I continued driving, I saw a car coming
rapidly around the curve. The car did not show any signs of slowing down as it headed towards the
intersection. The light turned yellow and then quickly red. Another object caught my eye that made
me fear what was going to happen next. A young couple started crossing the street wearing fancy
attire. The first thought that came to mind was, 'they are...show more content...
One of the police officers came up to me introduced himself, asked me my name and started, "Have
you ever seen this driver before? On the road or around town?" I quickly responded, "No, I have not

is considered the town drunk and does not currently have a valid license due to drinking and
driving". He asked me some questions and asked me to fill out an incident report. Still shaken up by
the whole incident I gladly accepted. The officer ended our conversation. "Thank you so much for
your time, Kevin. We really appreciate it."
The only thought running through my head on my way home was how much I had not
appreciated my wife and children. To witness something of that nature makes one conscientious
about what you have and how quickly it could vanish. I vowed after that day to speak out against
drinking and driving and the terrible outcomes that can transpire from something that some do
not view as a "big deal". It is apparent that better ways have to be found for getting drunk drivers off
the road. I encourage anyone to be responsible for their lives and others by agreeing to never drink
and drive again, and to also aid your family and friends in doing so. Have a designated driver each
night or call a cab. Everyone is capable of saving a

My Best Day Essay : My Perfect Day
Have you ever wondered what a perfect day would be like? An everyday routine starts to get
annoying and boring, especially if you don't get a day off. At the moment, my routine is to wake
up early, get ready for school, go to school, and after a long day come back home. From the time I
get home which is around two in the afternoon and by the time I go to sleep, it all consists of doing
homework. Sometimes I wish I can at least take a day off and relax, with having no worries. The
idea of a perfect day for me should be a day to get rid of stress, and should be an unforgettable day.
As the sun started to come out, I knew it was time to start my day. The perfect day that I've always
dreamed of was going to be today. I looked at my...show more content...
In the meantime, while I was waiting for my food to get here I went to the kitchen to wash the
dishes that I left in the morning. After my food got delivered I went back into my bed and started
eating my orange chicken with rice. By that time, I was already in the fourth movie, all of a
sudden it was really dark outside, but I was not scared at all, even though I was home alone. Now
it was around ten at night and I had finished watching the Halloween series. I turned my tv off and
started playing really loud music on my speaker. I knew it was nighttime and the neighbors might
complain, but at the moment I didn't care about anything. I enjoy listening to depressing songs
specially from Coldplay which gets me in the mood to cry. My eyes began to close so I turned my
speaker off as well as the light and I went to sleep. At last, a perfect day for me should be different
from any ordinary day, and should enjoy it like as if it was my last. I see a perfect day as not
something outstanding, but more of like a lazy day. This day was one of the best days I've ever had
because it's been forever since I've taken a break. Many people might do something like this on a
regular day, but for me it was one of the days where I got to stay in bed, relax, and let all of the stress
out. Days like this doesn't hurt and everyone has their own ideal day, but for me is all about being
comfortable. As long as, I have a day off

The Class Everyone Dreads "Is EN100 a useful class to take?," this was a question I got asked by
a junior at my school. They were looking for classes to take next year; I told them that it was an
abundant amount of writing, but it was a great class to take. I went on to explain to them, that
taking it in high school would be easier and cheaper than in college. Beginning to explain to them
that it helped me grow as a writer and helped improve my English vocabulary, I realized it helped a
whole lot. Throughout the first semester of school, we had to write essays over four different topics.
These included informative, observation, reflection, and descriptive essays. I told them about my
experiences while writing with these certain types of essays. This is what I said: The first essay we
wrote was the descriptive writing style. I wrote an essay called, "Burger King's Crusty Castle". In
this essay, I wrote about the filth inside of the restaurant. Throughout this essay I got better with
describing every little detail in the story. I started off by saying, "The tea urns (used to keep all of
the freshly made tea in) smell like something had crawled in them and died" ("Burger King's
Crusty Castle"1). I eventually changed it to say, "The tea urns (used to keep all of the freshly
made tea in) smell like a skunk that has just been ran over" ("Burger King's Crusty Castle"11). I
added detail to the sentence to make it sound more fluent and to make you feel as if you could smell
it. It

Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. Waking up early in the morning and

You cannot be one the beach without a smile on your face, it's near impossible to be in a gloomy
mood when there. Mainly magical because you can escape there with family and friends with many

Descriptive Essay On An Island
The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto
the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face.
Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into
one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that
moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my
head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side
already broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of
night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded
away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful.
After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got
trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A
series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so
I decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was
surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal,
to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it
seemed like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they
were painted on.
I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought
freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged
happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful
sound of the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew
gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach
started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits
suddenly arises on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell,

Descriptive Essay Party
A couple of days before Thanksgiving break, my cousin, whose name is Jae, suggested to me that
there was a party a close friend of hers was throwing. I reluctantly agreed since I had to write
about my experience of a party for my essay. Fast forward to the day of the party, around 7 in the
afternoon, my cousin drove us to her friend's house. What I saw really made me nervous because
I am socially awkward person. If it's a new place with new people, I tend to have sweaty hands,
my heart beats fast, and sometimes I stutter badly. I digress back to the subject, in front of us was
a huge gathering of people and cars parked on both sides of the street leading up to a somewhat
big light blue house. Seeing this I told Jae that I didn't know these many people would be here,
otherwise, I most likely wouldn't have gone. She assured me that it would be fine and calmed me
a bit before we got out of her car and walked through the thick crowd of young adults. Then as my
cousin and I entered the unusually small doorway of the house. We observed our surroundings,
me trying to find a more secluded spot, and I'd assumed Jae was looking the host of this larger
than a necessary house party. I stayed close to my cousin as we weaved in and out of groups of
people. She was speaking to the people that she knew at the party and tried to introduce me to them,
but since I'm not much of a big conversationalist, the discussions mostly just ended in a few
awkward words. It left me a little embarrassed

Descriptive Essay Trip
One of the greatest ways to learn about the world around us is to take a trip to visit new places.
This past summer, I flew from my home in Florida to take a road trip with my aunt from Roanoke,
Virginia. We went to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was an amazing experience to be able to visit the
place where my family originated.
Our trip started in Roanoke where my aunt and I made our way to Canada driving through the
night. Unfortunately, since it was dark, I was unable to see anything. I did, however, get to have
time to talk with my aunt and get to know her a little better. After a long eleven hour drive, we
finally made it to our Canadian destination. After resting a few hours at another aunt's house in
Milton, I was ready to become tourist for a few days. My first stop was Niagara Falls just north of
the Canadian border.
Niagara Falls is the largest waterfall by volume in North America; and is one of the largest tourist
attractions. Even though it was extremely crowded making viewing difficult; the experience was
worth the inconvenience. I was able to walk around and see some of the area surrounding the
falls. The town of Niagara has great places to shop, as well as, wonderful restaurants. I enjoyed
spending time with both of my aunts and one uncle. On the way back to my aunt's house we
stopped off at my favorite restaurant, Swiss Chalet. This franchise is only in Canada, which makes
it a must stop place for my family and I to eat. In my opinion, their chicken and

Freshman year, Victor was a shystudent and would only talk to me about our math homework and
the way he understood complex equations. Although he's always been willing to stand out in class as
a bright student, it wasn't until Junior year that I noticed him become more outspoken and willing to
take social and academic risks.
Junior year second semester, we had almost all of our college classes at North Carolina Central
university together. I enjoyed working with him because he was great at communicating his ideas
and always supported me to go the extra mile in everything we did. We've worked on two short
movies for a class together and I admire his patience and detailed–oriented personality.
Victor is the bravest person I know. Our first semester of senior year was extremely difficult for
him because as much as he wants to go to college, he knew that he couldn't afford it. As a DACA
student, there were only a limited number of scholarships he qualified for. On occasions when we
had lunch together, he would breakdown in tears when we spoke about college. This did not get
any after President Trump terminated the DACA program. However, he always had courage and
fought his way to find his only hope: The Golden Doors Scholarship. He knew that this scholarship
was the key to his future and worked day and night assuring that everything on his application was
perfect. He never gave up. He knew that there were very few options, but never once did he not
think about not going to college. College is his biggest dream and he didn't let anything stop him.
After submitting his application, he was one of only 50 students to receive this full ride scholarship.
Victor's persistence prevailed even when he thought his life was falling apart. It's a characteristic
that makes him who he is and the reason I look up to him as a student and human being.
Victor is also well outspoken and willing to defend his

Vivid 9/11 Descriptive Writing

  • 1. 9/11 Descriptive Writing The applause of lightning shakes me to the very core, the anticipation of what's to come and more. The pelting liquids, washing our sins away. Blocks of destruction tower over the flat rock where the toxic monsters prowl and roar. My black bag feels heavy against my pale, numb fingers. My damp hair sticks to my itchy neck, red with my groping long nails. Red bricks, wet and blurry, dark pavements, moist and slippery. Everything was doused in this unforgiving cold attack. Middle class shops were placed everywhere, conveniently providing shelter. Dark leaves shuddered violently against the harsh winds, birds no longer poised and positioned on long branches, where they used to sing. Click, clack. Click, clack. My shoes let out a silent echo...show more content... A knife had grazed it, given the thinness and deepness of it. A sharp one I suppose. If the victim was killed, then the killer might have at least disposed of the body. Another possibility is that he was in a rush, or someone caught him in the act. I picked up a brush, careful not to disturb the precious DNA contained in the delicate dark hairs. Bringing a knife to the fight, that's unfair, looks like the murderer took flight after blood was spilled. I grab the bottle that I refilled, took a big swig, and set it down on a dark wood coffee Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive And Prescriptive Grammar Introduction In this essay I will discuss the definition of the concept grammar in linguistic science and thee attitude teachers may have towards such a conceptualization of what grammar is. I will go into detail by explaining perspective and descriptive grammar. Descriptive Grammar The first thing that I will be discussing is the definition of descriptive grammar. A descriptive grammar is a set of rules about language based on how it is actually used. It can relate with a prescriptive grammar, which is a set of rules based on how people think language should be used. Specialists in descriptive grammar (linguists) examine the principles and patterns that underlie the use of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences. In contrast, prescriptive...show more content... Examples of prescriptive grammar rules can be found in practically every guide to "good" language usage, grammar rule book, or grammar guide. Teacher's attitude towards grammar Grammar has always been an important issue in second and foreign language learning and teaching. Some hold the view that grammar is not essential for second/foreign language learning and therefore have a 'zero position' regarding grammar teaching. On the other hand, some view that grammar is necessary for second/foreign language learning. There is often confusion between what is prescriptively correct under the rules of standard English grammar within different varieties, which results in various options for classroom grammar teaching for second language learners. In the classroom relating to descriptive grammar learners can be encouraged to move away from a prescriptive approach to grammar by using a guided discovery in which they look for examples of variations in use in authentic texts. These examples can be compared to prescriptive rules in order to decide if they are useful or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Descriptive Essay About The Ocean The comforting white clouds stretched and darkened swirling themselves into a silvery metallic vortex. Majestic and alive a giant eye looked down upon me, with a menacing gleam, like it wanted to toy with me then changed its mind due to the mere insignificance within its domain, and more important business for itself. My tiny body amid this vast, strange universe, staring at the gunmetal clouds, overcome with motion sickness that I had never experienced before. Otherworldly, the impossible spinning waves tunneled through my cells, and with it this time – the smell of death. It slammed me like a copper truck creating a hole to dump its load of rotten eggs, human waste, cheap perfume, and rotting meat that my cells felt they exploded from the inside out. It ignited a force of nausea in me so intense my head jerked, and I blew out blood, vomit, and a silvery black ooze into my regulator. I kept purging the exhaust valve of excess blood, vomit, and liquid metal. The distinct smell of death became a taste I couldn't expel. An unholy taste of metallic death. The different spinning double waves pummeled through me shattering my core by its opposing directions. Bright, iridescent metallic flashes outlined every wave's form; inside an inner beast made of hematite black. But why? Why is the ocean changing? The ocean, my friend? Into what, and what was it changing me into? I tried to grasp it as if it was on the tip of my tongue, but it wasn't, I couldn't know this at all. I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Personal Experience Essay I was in my room listening to music. My room would normally have a very serene feeling to it. My room had a beautiful dream catcher hanging on the wall and there was also a very big window that made it possible for me to see the moon every night. I always felt very relaxed in my room, but that day I could hear the screaming and arguing between my mom and my dad in the background. It was horrible. I could feel my eyes starting to water because I hated hearing my parents fight. The fighting and arguing continued for days. On one evening I could hear the voices of my parents arguing with my brothers. I was in my room as always and I started to feel room getting really hot. The noises and everything else around me made me feel very...show more content... "I haven 't been feeling so great lately",I said in a soft tone. My mom glanced at me with a very puzzled expression on her face. "What do you mean? Are you sick?", she asked with confusion in her voice. "No, I mean I don't know I just haven 't been feeling too great emotionally i guess.", I responded in a very little voice because I thought that maybe she would think that I was crazy. Once I said that my mom stopped folding all of the laundry. "Since when?", my mom asked with a very surprised tone. "Maybe like 3 months.", I responded. "What! Three months why didn't you tell me". " I didn't tell you because I thought you wouldn't understand.", I said in a tone that almost sounded annoyed, which I think I might have been. " I think you should go to the doctor.", she told me. I didn't want to go to the doctor, but I knew that it would most likely help me. A couple days later I went to the doctor and he just asked me a bunch of questions. One of the questions was, what did it feel like to have an anxiety attack. That was probably one of the hardest questions i had ever had to answer. I couldn 't find the right words to describe how it felt. As he kept asking me questions he would write things down. I couldn't help but wonder what he was writing down. I would keep having the thought that maybe he was writing down all of the bad things. After the doctor stopped talking to me he started to talk to my mom about ways to help Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Descriptive Essay On A Great Vacation I was sitting on a hot steamy white sand beach where the ocean was washing into the shore. Cinque Terre was a nice vacation spot to chill, relax, and go for a swim. Ninety–Five degree weather all day long, everyday. My family and I were staying in a small, no air–conditioning house with only 3 bedrooms. During our sleep, we forget to close the windows so little lizards come into our house and crawl up our walls. Cinque Terre is a great vacation spot for many family activities! Our first day in a new country, I was having a great time so far! We ran down to the beach and swam for the whole day. Some local people were hiking up the side of a mountain from the ocean. We noticed there was a large platform that they created at three top. Us as a whole family wanted to adventure up to the platform to see what all of the commotion was. Then as we reached the top of the cliff, people were jumping off and diving, doing all sorts of tricks. We decided to jump as well, this was a fun activity for us. As we continued hiking to a "higher spot" we found out that there was several different platforms on the mountain. People even made a small rocky path for people to walk up to. The tallest platform was too high for anyone to go on, but we went on the second highest one which was still very scary. On the top of the mountain, we can see all around the town of Cinque Terre. Also when we looked down at the clear sea water, we can see all the way to the bottom and see the white sand. Sometimes fish will stroll by and we can see them swim around our area. The next day in Cinque Terre was a beautiful day. Theocean waves were rolling in, the bright sun was shining high. As we were exploring the town looking for activities to do, a friendly tourist came up to us and told us all about the things him and his family has done for the past week. This gave us some ideas. We were told to go hiking. Scuba Dive. Explore all the local towns. Or enjoy a nice day at the beach. Since we have already spent time at the beach we decided to just walk around the many towns and enjoy our last day their. As we werewalking around one of the neighboring towns of Cinque Terre, we remembered our local guide man told us about hiking. We found a small Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Descriptive Essay On The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby, by Francis Scott Fitzgerald is an amazing novel that thank god it was turn into a movie. It is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. Probably because it starts one of my favorites actors of all time like the great Leonardo DiCaprio. Being that this novel is so well known, so there is going to be many opinions about it. There is an extra of material that has been written on The Great Gatsby. To me one of the most interesting aspect that The Great Gatsby brings is the setting, which is during the 1920's, and how this movie represents the life of the great Fitzgerald during this same time period. "In the 1920's and 1930s F. Scott Fitzgerald was equally famous as a writer and as a celebrity author whose lifestyle seemed to symbolize the two decades" (Fitzgerald, p. 2147). The movie is narrated by Nick Carraway, who moved to New York from the mid–west. Nick moved to West Egg, which is a place where rich people lived. He bought a small house next to none other than Jay Gatsby mansion. Nick is later invited by Gatsby itself to one of his parties, where Gatsby tells Nick that him and Daisy were in love while Gatsby was in the war. Later Nick arranged a meeting between Gatsby and Daisy, who turned out to be Nick's cousin. Daisy's husband, Tom get suspicious of daisy's affair with Gatsby. Because of this, Tom arranged a meeting to confront Gatsby in a hotel room. • 7. Descriptive Essay I'm going to describe a girl for you, try to keep up. Long light brown hair, vintage classy glasses, one lonely dimple on the lower part of her mouth, soft pale skin, stone cold stare, and a dry sense of humor. Can you picture her? Well if you can, then you've basically just met me. I usually try to force a smile, wait no scratch that– I used to try to force a smile. Now I'm not saying this so that you can view me as unhappy or negative, but in all fairness who has a smile as their natural way of expression. By all means, my personality, interests, and hobbies are the fundamental building blocks to the life I choose to live. Is it too cliche to say that I am a teenage girl with big insecurities, an addiction with comparing myself to others, and deepening trust issues? Well if it is, then add being cliche to the list. I guess you can say my insecurities originate from the fact that my biggest critic is my own mother. From the earliest years of elementary up till this present day, it was either my wardrobe, my posture, or my way of speaking that gained the attention of my mother's judgmental eye. Eventually, the criticism started to slip out of my own mouth, and that's when I began to compare myself to others. I'm not oblivious to how unhealthy this makes me, but when I am told that I need to be better (basically my entire life), it's easy to fall into unhealthy habits. Speaking of unhealthy habits, having trust issues seems to be my main one. As I grew older and entered the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Descriptive Essay On A Pig I was walking on the street when i saw this pig. It was pink with black spots on it. No one was around that could have been its owner so I took it. I went to the store to get some supplies for the pig. I was trying so hard to think of a name for it on my way home. I finally thought of it. I thought to myself, Spots would be a good name. Then out of nowhere someone with a white shirt, ripped black jeans, and jordan legend blues came and stole Spots from me. I didn't know what to do. i didn't chase them i just walked home sadly. The next day i woke up got ready, and started walking to school. On my way home i saw the person who i thought had stole my pig. They had no pig next to them, behind them, in front of them. I looked around and saw my pig. He was all alone in the trash can, whining. I went up to the man and asked him what the heck he was doing to my pig. He said, "i lost my pig... so i stole yours because it looked like my old one." I thought to myself. Could he be lying and just want the pig and he was going to do something with it? Why doesn't he have the pig with him and it's in a garbage can. When he was walking out of the alley where it was. I said, " what was your pigs name that you had?" He stuttered to reply, while trying to think of a name. "Ummm her name is giana." he stated While he was saying her name he started walking away like something was wrong. I couldn't hear the name he called her because all i could hear was spots whining! I went to go pick up spots but she wouldn't let me, she was trying to bite me. I was wondering why she didn't remember me. I was looking all over for the man i just wanted to talk to him about what happened, or if it's his pig! I had to leave and go do my homework. After about 3 hours of homework there was a pounding knock on my door. I was home alone and my parents weren't supposed to be home for another hour. Maybe they got off earlier than they usually do. I didn't answer it and they repeatedly did it. I looked through my bedroom window and there the guy was! I didn't know him so i didn't go down stairs to open it. While i was closing my curtains i heard the man say, " I see you little boy, now come open this door" I acted like i couldn't hear him because Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Descriptive Essay Descriptive Essay It was a seemingly beautiful day as I drove on a joy ride in my bright blue sports car, with the wind in my hair. This is an everyday activity for me. My friends would mock me saying, "You spend more money on gas than you make working." I laughed to myself at the thought of jokes amongst my friends. That happiness was soon halted. As I continued driving, I saw a car coming rapidly around the curve. The car did not show any signs of slowing down as it headed towards the intersection. The light turned yellow and then quickly red. Another object caught my eye that made me fear what was going to happen next. A young couple started crossing the street wearing fancy attire. The first thought that came to mind was, 'they are...show more content... One of the police officers came up to me introduced himself, asked me my name and started, "Have you ever seen this driver before? On the road or around town?" I quickly responded, "No, I have not officer." He continued, "I learned from the call back to the station that the driver, David Chrisenger, is considered the town drunk and does not currently have a valid license due to drinking and driving". He asked me some questions and asked me to fill out an incident report. Still shaken up by the whole incident I gladly accepted. The officer ended our conversation. "Thank you so much for your time, Kevin. We really appreciate it." The only thought running through my head on my way home was how much I had not appreciated my wife and children. To witness something of that nature makes one conscientious about what you have and how quickly it could vanish. I vowed after that day to speak out against drinking and driving and the terrible outcomes that can transpire from something that some do not view as a "big deal". It is apparent that better ways have to be found for getting drunk drivers off the road. I encourage anyone to be responsible for their lives and others by agreeing to never drink and drive again, and to also aid your family and friends in doing so. Have a designated driver each night or call a cab. Everyone is capable of saving a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Best Day Essay : My Perfect Day Have you ever wondered what a perfect day would be like? An everyday routine starts to get annoying and boring, especially if you don't get a day off. At the moment, my routine is to wake up early, get ready for school, go to school, and after a long day come back home. From the time I get home which is around two in the afternoon and by the time I go to sleep, it all consists of doing homework. Sometimes I wish I can at least take a day off and relax, with having no worries. The idea of a perfect day for me should be a day to get rid of stress, and should be an unforgettable day. As the sun started to come out, I knew it was time to start my day. The perfect day that I've always dreamed of was going to be today. I looked at my...show more content... In the meantime, while I was waiting for my food to get here I went to the kitchen to wash the dishes that I left in the morning. After my food got delivered I went back into my bed and started eating my orange chicken with rice. By that time, I was already in the fourth movie, all of a sudden it was really dark outside, but I was not scared at all, even though I was home alone. Now it was around ten at night and I had finished watching the Halloween series. I turned my tv off and started playing really loud music on my speaker. I knew it was nighttime and the neighbors might complain, but at the moment I didn't care about anything. I enjoy listening to depressing songs specially from Coldplay which gets me in the mood to cry. My eyes began to close so I turned my speaker off as well as the light and I went to sleep. At last, a perfect day for me should be different from any ordinary day, and should enjoy it like as if it was my last. I see a perfect day as not something outstanding, but more of like a lazy day. This day was one of the best days I've ever had because it's been forever since I've taken a break. Many people might do something like this on a regular day, but for me it was one of the days where I got to stay in bed, relax, and let all of the stress out. Days like this doesn't hurt and everyone has their own ideal day, but for me is all about being comfortable. As long as, I have a day off Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Descriptive Writing Essay The Class Everyone Dreads "Is EN100 a useful class to take?," this was a question I got asked by a junior at my school. They were looking for classes to take next year; I told them that it was an abundant amount of writing, but it was a great class to take. I went on to explain to them, that taking it in high school would be easier and cheaper than in college. Beginning to explain to them that it helped me grow as a writer and helped improve my English vocabulary, I realized it helped a whole lot. Throughout the first semester of school, we had to write essays over four different topics. These included informative, observation, reflection, and descriptive essays. I told them about my experiences while writing with these certain types of essays. This is what I said: The first essay we wrote was the descriptive writing style. I wrote an essay called, "Burger King's Crusty Castle". In this essay, I wrote about the filth inside of the restaurant. Throughout this essay I got better with describing every little detail in the story. I started off by saying, "The tea urns (used to keep all of the freshly made tea in) smell like something had crawled in them and died" ("Burger King's Crusty Castle"1). I eventually changed it to say, "The tea urns (used to keep all of the freshly made tea in) smell like a skunk that has just been ran over" ("Burger King's Crusty Castle"11). I added detail to the sentence to make it sound more fluent and to make you feel as if you could smell it. It Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This place brought all though special things in life to one place where I can enjoy them all at the same time. The Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. Waking up early in the morning and driving the long trip there, going through forests, valleys, and cities. The sun shines down on the moisture in the air creating a "sparkling" affect to add to the view. In some spots on the coast giant rock formations stick out of the water, creating a question on how they formed there. Sea creatures dot the sand everywhere. Walking the beach with sand between your toes is and not a worry in your mind is one of the best feelings. If you time it right early in the mornings and late in the night low tide takes place and you can find sand dollars and unique shells. Beautiful houses and hotels line the beach all with the same withered look they all strive to have, and balconies on every place to capture the view. This destination is such an important place to Oregonians because its such a magical place. It transports you into a different dimension where there are no other places like it. You cannot be one the beach without a smile on your face, it's near impossible to be in a gloomy mood when there. Mainly magical because you can escape there with family and friends with many opportunities to try to experience new or traditional things. It tells you how terrible you are, grows and grows, replays every mistake in your life, and humiliates you daily; it makes happiness impossible and friends a difficulty. • 15. Descriptive Essay On An Island The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face. Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side already broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful. After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so I decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal, to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it seemed like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they were painted on. I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful sound of the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits suddenly arises on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Descriptive Essay Party A couple of days before Thanksgiving break, my cousin, whose name is Jae, suggested to me that there was a party a close friend of hers was throwing. I reluctantly agreed since I had to write about my experience of a party for my essay. Fast forward to the day of the party, around 7 in the afternoon, my cousin drove us to her friend's house. What I saw really made me nervous because I am socially awkward person. If it's a new place with new people, I tend to have sweaty hands, my heart beats fast, and sometimes I stutter badly. I digress back to the subject, in front of us was a huge gathering of people and cars parked on both sides of the street leading up to a somewhat big light blue house. Seeing this I told Jae that I didn't know these many people would be here, otherwise, I most likely wouldn't have gone. She assured me that it would be fine and calmed me a bit before we got out of her car and walked through the thick crowd of young adults. Then as my cousin and I entered the unusually small doorway of the house. We observed our surroundings, me trying to find a more secluded spot, and I'd assumed Jae was looking the host of this larger than a necessary house party. I stayed close to my cousin as we weaved in and out of groups of people. She was speaking to the people that she knew at the party and tried to introduce me to them, but since I'm not much of a big conversationalist, the discussions mostly just ended in a few awkward words. It left me a little embarrassed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Descriptive Essay Trip One of the greatest ways to learn about the world around us is to take a trip to visit new places. This past summer, I flew from my home in Florida to take a road trip with my aunt from Roanoke, Virginia. We went to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was an amazing experience to be able to visit the place where my family originated. Our trip started in Roanoke where my aunt and I made our way to Canada driving through the night. Unfortunately, since it was dark, I was unable to see anything. I did, however, get to have time to talk with my aunt and get to know her a little better. After a long eleven hour drive, we finally made it to our Canadian destination. After resting a few hours at another aunt's house in Milton, I was ready to become tourist for a few days. My first stop was Niagara Falls just north of the Canadian border. Niagara Falls is the largest waterfall by volume in North America; and is one of the largest tourist attractions. Even though it was extremely crowded making viewing difficult; the experience was worth the inconvenience. I was able to walk around and see some of the area surrounding the falls. The town of Niagara has great places to shop, as well as, wonderful restaurants. I enjoyed spending time with both of my aunts and one uncle. On the way back to my aunt's house we stopped off at my favorite restaurant, Swiss Chalet. This franchise is only in Canada, which makes it a must stop place for my family and I to eat. In my opinion, their chicken and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Descriptive Essay About A Student I have known Victor for four years and can say I know him very well. I've had the pleasure to share classes with Victor throughout high school, work on group presentations and projects, as well as take part in student panel information sessions to Latinx parents and students interested in applying to our school. Freshman year, Victor was a shystudent and would only talk to me about our math homework and the way he understood complex equations. Although he's always been willing to stand out in class as a bright student, it wasn't until Junior year that I noticed him become more outspoken and willing to take social and academic risks. Junior year second semester, we had almost all of our college classes at North Carolina Central university together. I enjoyed working with him because he was great at communicating his ideas and always supported me to go the extra mile in everything we did. We've worked on two short movies for a class together and I admire his patience and detailed–oriented personality. Victor is the bravest person I know. Our first semester of senior year was extremely difficult for him because as much as he wants to go to college, he knew that he couldn't afford it. As a DACA student, there were only a limited number of scholarships he qualified for. On occasions when we had lunch together, he would breakdown in tears when we spoke about college. This did not get any after President Trump terminated the DACA program. However, he always had courage and fought his way to find his only hope: The Golden Doors Scholarship. He knew that this scholarship was the key to his future and worked day and night assuring that everything on his application was perfect. He never gave up. He knew that there were very few options, but never once did he not think about not going to college. College is his biggest dream and he didn't let anything stop him. After submitting his application, he was one of only 50 students to receive this full ride scholarship. Victor's persistence prevailed even when he thought his life was falling apart. It's a characteristic that makes him who he is and the reason I look up to him as a student and human being. Victor is also well outspoken and willing to defend his Get more content on HelpWriting.net
