Władysław Łokietek was crowned king of Poland in 1320, unifying the country's lands that had been divided and ruled separately by different princes since 1138. His coronation joined all the Polish lands back together and restored Poland to participating as a single country on the international political scene once more.

The events mentioned included the fall of the Berlin Wall, Solidarnosc strikes in Poland, and the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia. When asked if it was important, some felt German reunification or the end of the Cold War were most significant, while others cited former communist countries joining the EU or economic changes in Europe.
