2. Nar Phu Valley Trekking is a striking short journey in the Trans Himalaya, just behind the
north face of Mt. Annapurna. The Nar Phu Valley Short Trek is a combination of
cultural, adventure, and scenic phenomenon. Sky towering peaks and adventure passes,
glaciers, remote ancient villages, ranging river making deep gorges, lovely forests,
amazing rock configuration, a herd of yaks and wild goats, Gombas, and medieval unique
Tibetan culture handover from their ancestor are main features of the trip. Nar Phu
Valley was officially opened in 2003 for the trekkers and developing as a tea house and
homestay concept. As this is Restricted Area trekking you need special trekking
permits through the registered trekking agency.
There is road access to the Chame -districts headquarter of Manang and further, so this
day Nar Phu Valley Short Trek begins from Koto village and then leave the main trail of
Nepal’s legendary Annapurna Circuit. After crossing the Marsyangdi River at Koto, the
trail heading to Nar Phu Valley following Nar Khola, where just a few trekkers can be
seen. The trek swiftly moves away from routes with more trekkers-traffic and into the
remote Nar Phu valley. The trail goes through the narrow path and forest with a
frequent glimpse of mountains view. Colorful Tibetan Chortens, Monastery, rock
painting, prayer stones, and huge pasture land crossed the Dharmashala justify your
trip. Then further heading to the Nar Phu Valley via Meta, Chyank, and Kang, where
broken fragments of building remind you, 1960’s Khampa revolution. There are several
side trips from the Phu Village; you may visit the Tashi Khaling Gumba, Himlung Himal
Base Camp (4,920m), and the sacred site of Damodar Kunda trail. On the favorable
weather properly organized trekkers can go direct Phu to Nar village making a venture
journey with Phu Pass (5,050m) and Nar Pass (5,400m). The trip retrace to the Meta
village, where you may visit the Kangaru Himal Base Camp (4,500m) and then continue
for the Kanga La Pass (5,320m) via Nar Phedi and Nar Village. The view from Kang La
pass is incredible with 360 degrees of Annapurna Range, Chulu Range, Himlung Himal
(7,176m), Kangaru Himal (6,981m), and Lamjung Himal (6,983m). Finally Kangla Pass Short
Trek ends at Chame the Annapurna Circuit main trail via Ngawal (3675m), from where
drive backs to Besisahar and onward to your destination. These days, you can drive
Ngawal to Besisahar direct by Jeep also, it takes about 10 hours.
Nar Phu Valley is an ideal trip to learn the depth of Nepal’s mountaineering and culture
in a short time. Comparatively this trekking is chipper than another restricted area of
Nepal. This 9 days tea house trek is designed for those trekkers who would like to explore
the high Himalaya in a short time with a limited budget. Are you looking for the Beaten
Path trip in Nepal at the best time of the year but like to avoid the crowded of tourists?
Then, Nar Phu Valley and Kangla Pass Short Terk would be the key destination for
you. We at Nepal Mother House Treks is glad to organize your trip throughout whole the
year-round by expert local Guide and porters. But autumn and spring are the best time
for this trek. As Nar Phu Valley is located rain shadow area behind the Himalayas,
monsoon also a great time to visit.

see you during your next trip to the Nepal Himalayas!
Sometimes we could face the problem of internal flights to/from Jomsom delayed by
few hours or canceled for a day because of bad weather. It happens very rarely, but it
could even in the best trekking season also as you know how climate change is affecting
our globe. Therefore, we always recommend you to add one supplement night in
Kathmandu after your base camp trek if possible (just in case). If everything runs
smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting, shopping, as you wish in
that additional day overnight at the hotel.
