The Registrar
Dear Madam,
RE: Organisation of 'UOM ART REVIVAL'
" The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls. "
- Pablo Picasso
It is an initiative to provide a platform for students of Art and Design to interact with professional
artists and know about the various job prospects in the field of Art and Design and also to have an
idea of professionalism in Art and Design. Also, this is to reduce the gap between UOM and MGI in
the field of Art and Design and make UOM students familiarise with Art and Design.
As such, we have written this letter to seek approval for what we have termed as, "UOM Art Revival".
Thanking you in advance.
Yours Faithfully,
Nelvin Cushmagee
President of Psychology Society

UOM ART REVIVAL
PROJECT MOTIVATION
The University of Mauritius/MGI is reputed for being the institution which
educates and forms the best artists in Mauritius. However, since a long time
when a person talks about art in UOM, he/she will tend to talk more about MGI
and relates art to MGI rather than UOM though the two institutions are one.
But, unfortunately it’s true that MGI seems to be less connected to UOM in the
field of Art & Design.
So, a group of students came with the idea of organising an art exhibition in
UOM so as to bring the gap between UOM and MGI and show that these two
institutions are one and art has its raison d’etre in UOM.
Moreover, due to economic uncertainty and dramatic changes in the labour
market, many senior students who wanted to pursue a carrier in the field of Art
and Design are reluctant to do so. So, UOM Art Revival will be the ideal
platform for them for carrier guidance and meet professional artists.
Additionally, junior students will be familiarised with Art and Design and also
get advices from senior students and professional artists.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of UOM Art Revival are set out below:
To provide a platform for professional artists to expose their creations
and give the opportunity for a significant number of people to see their
creations.
To show that art does not necessarily be related to paintings, canvas,
portraits etc… but to prove that nowadays art and design has taken
another dimension and has been diversified. Hence, we are introducing
pyro gravure and other arts which the Mauritian population do not know.
To provide a platform for students of Art and Design to interact with
professional artists and know about the various job prospects in the field
of Art and Design and also to have an idea of professionalism in Art and
Design.
To reduce the gap between UOM and MGI in the field of Art and Design
and make UOM students familiarise with Art and Design.
