3. Gender
I chose gender; because as a female it is hard
trying to work in different kinds of job and raise
children on your own. Being a female has really
had an impact on my life. I have had to show the
males that I can be just as equal to them and work
even harder.
4. Age
I did my age because I waited a long time to go
back to school. I feel like it doesn’t matter how
old or young you is you can still succeed in life.
Also, because I’m 44 and just getting married for
the first time and all my friends got married when
the was young. They talk about me because I had
children with no husband, but now they are all
divorce.
5. Socioeconomic Status
I chose this one because even though I came from
a small town I was able to succeed. This town has
had two professional football players and won
numerous championship games and you can’t
even find us on the map.
6. Educational Level
I chose education because my mother did not
finish school. She still expected me to have the
best education as possible. She continue to tell me
to do my best now that I am grown.
8. My LifeHi, I am the bold and beautiful Bonita Burton. I will be telling you all about me. I will be talking about where I’m from, my family, my
educational experiences, my jobs that I have had, and my own wonderful family. It’s all about the wonderful me.
I was born in Reform is one of the towns that’s a part of Pickens County. “Pickens County was established on December 20, 1820, and
named after the revolutionary war hero General Andrew Pickens of South Carolina,(Windham, Kathryn Tucker(1969).” Pickens County is also
known for the face in the window at the courthouse in Carrollton, AL. If you drive too fast, you might miss the town since there is only have two
traffic lights. The town has been made famous because the high school basketball team has won three state titles back-to-back. This year’
election brought history to the town. The first ever black mayor was elected.
Education in Reform is overseen and governed by the Pickens County Board of Education. Students of Reform and its surrounding areas are
served by Reform Elementary School and Pickens County High School, (American Fact Finder.).” I went to the elementary school up until I was
in the six grade. I really liked going to school there. Back then, everybody made sure you got what you needed. I only went to the high school
for one year. I was in the band and enjoyed turning my flag pole. Then I moved to Tuscaloosa which is about 30 minutes from Reform. And this
is where I graduated from Central High School. While in high school, I went to school at night and got my Nursing Assistance Degree. Then
couple years later, I went to Shelton State and studied Business Management/Travel & Tourism. I was about to finish they closed the program. I
went to Concordia College and received a degree in Early Childcare. Now, I am a student at Ashford University at the age of 44. On top of doing
all of this, I still have to hold down a full time job.
Now, I will talk about my own family. I have three children of my own. My oldest daughter is 27 years old. She has a Bachelor‘s Degree in
Criminal Justice. She also has her Master in Business Administration and Homeland Security. She now works with the Atlanta Metro-Police
Department. My middle daughter is 25years old. She works for the University of Alabama. She has always been my sick child and now she is
battling Cervical cancer. My youngest child is a boy. He is 23 years old he is still in college and is studying to become an Engineer. He is a
mother’s boy and very protective of me. I just married the man of my dream a month ago man with two boys. He was also a single parent. His
oldest son is 21 years old and is in college studying Business. His youngest son is 8 years old and has been told that he has Autism. He is the joy
of our life and he does not talk but, he keeps us laughing. Because if I love their father, I got to love them as they were my own. Being here at
Ashford and taking this class has help me deal with my family.
You have learned about where I’m from, what my family was like, my educational experiences, jobs that I had in my life and my own family.
You can now see why I call myself bold; because of everything I have been through in my life. But look out you just got a taste of my new book
that will be coming out in 2017. It will be about the wonderful me.
