Phenix vp future of warehousing

 1. 1. Future Of Warehousing In
 2. 2. The reason’s of this presentation are …..

World Bank's 2007 Global Logistics Report ranks India 39 amongst 150 countries in terms of logistics performance during the year as well as its future potential .

the Indian logistics industry is expected to grow annually at the rate of 15 to 20 per cent, reaching revenues of approximately US$ 385 billion by 2015.

Warehousing activities account for about 20 per cent of the total Indian logistics industry and tends to grow up to 30-35 per cent.

Over the next five years, approximately 110 logistics parks and 45 million square feet of warehousing space is expected to be developed across the country by various logistics companies.

Gurgaon, Vizag, Nagpur and Indore are the emerging hubs and Jamshedpur, Alwar, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Ambala are the promising hubs to which we have to serve up till now.

 3. 3. Lets talk of present of warehousing….

PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE THEORY……

Like human beings, products also have their own life-cycle. From birth to death. It passes through various stages e.g. birth, growth, maturity, decline and death.

For Warehouse, PEB is the most preferred product

Is it a good thing?

 4. 4. Lets talk of present of warehousing….

increase in competitors entering the market

Customer awareness increases

sales volume increases significantly

Industrial profits go down

These are the sign of Maturity stage

Brand differentiation and feature diversification is emphasized to maintain or increase market share

So what all options we have?

 5. 5. 1. Rack supported warehouse…..
 6. 6. Some pictures of rack supported warehouse….
 7. 7. Some pictures of rack supported warehouse…
 8. 8. Features of rack supported warehouse...

Advantages to client

Maximum space utilization

Lighter foundation

Less civil work

Cost per space utilization is less

Flexibility in loading and unloading

More organized warehouse

Advantages to us

Structure is lighter and sturdy for wind /seismic zone

Steel quantity in warehouses increases

Lighter rafter sections as roof load is supported by racks

Lighter purling due to less column spacing

All advantage of PEB

 9. 9. Companies that provides rack supported warehouses….

Giraffe storage (Dewas techno product Pvt Ltd)

City storage system ( Mumbai)

Secon system ( Tamil Nadu)

Sigma storage System (UP)

And many more……

But we have few advantages over them……

Wider market reach

Our expertise in PEB

Capability to providing complete storage solution

 10. 10. 2.High Rise Racking……..
 11. 11. Features of High rise racking..

High rise racking is comprised of a complete storage rack system, with the rack system being the basic structural support for the building’s roof and walls. In this scenario, the roof and walls are often referred to as the “skin.”

High rise racks could be as high as 100 feets.

An Automated Storage & Retrieval System is an integral part of High rise racking, also referred to as AS/RS or ASRS, is a combination of equipment and controls that handles, stores, and retrieves materials with precision, accuracy and speed.

 14. 14. Continue……
 15. 15. Comparative points……

A structural steel frame building is preferable when: --Business requires changes in building configuration periodically --There may be a need to remove the storage later in time and still use the building --Storage is interspersed with other processes such as manufacturing --Building height is not over 45’ A rack-supported building is preferable when: --Storage density is to be optimized (storage/cu. ft.) --Space utilization is optimized and footprint minimized (storage/sq. ft.)

--Land is at a premium --Site has high winds or seismic considerations (forces will be spread across multiple frames)

--Building height is over 100’

 16. 16. AS/RS system- Heart of High rise racking….

It is a combination of equipment and controls that handles, stores, and retrieves materials with precision, accuracy and speed .

A basic AS/RS system is comprised of one or more aisles, each having a storage and retrieval machine (SRM) to retrieve and store product in the racks on either side of the aisle. The use of a robotic crane allows racks to be built several stories high over almost any length, providing more storage density than almost any other storage solution

 17. 17. AS/RS system- Heart of High rise racking….

Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems vary in sophistication from relatively simple, manually-controlled order-picking machines operating in small storage structures to fully- automated, computer-controlled systems that are integrated into complex manufacturing and distribution processes. AS/RS is effective for staging in a lean inventory environment.

Common types of SRMs are mini load and unit load. An SRM moves loads on three axes: vertically and/or horizontally in the aisle and then laterally to place the load in a storage location.

 18. 18. AS/RS system- Heart of High rise racking….

AS/RS can do all the operations which are unloading goods from carrier, sorting, put-away, storage, order-picking, staging and loading of goods can be done by machine automatically

Benefits of AS/RS

Improved throughput

Inventory accuracy and control

Erection in tendon is possible

Reduced operator fatigue

Employee safety

Highest possible storage density

No interference with building columns
