NEW YORK CITY.
Following on from the phenomenal
success of her best-selling book
‘The Edible Balcony’, Indira wants
to show you how New Yorkers are
growing food in their city.
3. Concrete to Crops
High above the streets of
the historic borough of
Brooklyn are three of the
world’s largest ‘sky
farms’.
Over 6 days, as part of an
intimate tour group of
10, you’ll explore how
these inspiring
commercial enterprises
are turning concrete into
crops.
4. Veggies in the Sky
You’ll be amazed how
some farms cover
more than 2 ½ acres
of a building’s
rooftop.
You’ll learn about
their engineering and
construction.
5. Chooks on the Roof
As well as growing acres
of fruit and
vegetables, these roof top
farms have chook houses
and bee hives producing
fresh eggs and honey for
local residents. You’ll get
a chance to get your
hands dirty, collect some
eggs or help filter some
honey.
6. Jaw-dropping vistas
The breath-taking views
of the Manhattan skyline
from the rooftop farms
will blow you away.
They are literally just
across the river from New
York’s iconic skyscrapers
such as the Chrysler
building and the Empire
State Building.
8. Dine on Farm Produce
After each tour you’ll
feast on the fresh
seasonal farm produce
during
specially-hosted lunches
at local award-winning
restaurants. You’ll enjoy
the region’s organic
wines matched to your
meal by our tour group
sommelier.
9. Stay at Hip Hotels
You’ll stay in Brooklyn at the
stylish Wythe Hotel - one of
New York’s hottest new
boutique accommodations…
The Wythe was voted

List’ 2013 and

Magazine’s ‘Best Hotel’ 2013
10. Old World Charm
And when the tour moves
to Manhattan,
you’ll stay at the regal
Washington Square
Hotel in Greenwich
Village. Style and comfort
in the grooviest part of
the city.
11. The Highline
We’ll also squeeze
in a tour of New
York’s famous
Highline - an
historic elevated
railway line that’s
been transformed
into
2 km of lush
gardens.
12. Historic food markets
After our invigorating
walk along The
Highline, we’ll pop in
to the beautiful
Chelsea Markets for a
food tour and delicious
lunch.
13. Meet local farmers
And on our last day we’ll
explore the extraordinary
diversity of produce at
The Union Square
Greenmarkets in Union
Square…..
14. Paddock to Plate
And then for our farewell lunch we’ll dine
nearby at the famous Union Square Café
which sources market produce for its award-
winning dishes.
15. Take a bite out of the Big Apple
… and your evenings will
be free to explore New
York’s hip nightlife, do
some shopping or catch a
Broadway show.
16. A Sky High Adventure
This is a trip for
foodies, gardeners or
those who just want to
live a richer more
sustainable life in the city.
