Hot task manager
- 1. The Missing Maps Project Before the event Visit http://www.openstreetmap.org/ & sign up for an account (it would be really good if you remembered the user name & password as well!) - perhaps bookmarking the site will help? While you're bookmarking sites, add http://www.tasks.hotosm.org/ - don't worry, we'll explain it when you get to us, There will be a lot of people at the mapathon, all sharing the same wifi - do your updates on the laptop before you get to us - no downloading films either, thanks!) If you know you're going to want to use JOSM (ignore this bit if you don't know what we're talking about - we'll explain, honest!!), then download it & set up for your laptop - http://josm.openstreetmap.de/ When you arrive We've found that it's best to group people according to their operating systems so you can help each other - look out for labels on the table for your system, and find a seat. Have a look at the bits of paper we've put on the tables Fire up your laptop & connect it to the wifi - there should be signs with the name & password displayed (It would be really good if the systems didn't 'hang' when we start because everyone's laptop wants to sync! - get it done early please.) Have a chat & chill. There's no rocket science involved so you might as well enjoy the session.
- 2. The Tasking Manager explained http://tasks.hotosm.org/ Login using your OpenStreetMap username & password
- 3. Filter using text strings in search box, such as; 'Ebola', 'MSF' 'British Red Cross' Find the projects you've worked on before – use this filter to get feedback from the validators. Choice of language
- 4. Green squares have been OK'd by another mapper (Validated) Mapping done, but waiting to be checked by validator Mapping in progress Invalidated – needs fixing! To be done Project border Squares can be split
- 8. Hover the mouse over the username to see just their squares
- 9. Feedback – click on a square to see comments
- 11. Overpass turbo - Click on a feature you have added to see the tags applied to it
- 12. To release the square, click on the X Or Start Mapping!
- 13. Square will be released when the countdown has finished, unless you finish first!

- Hover mouse over a user name so that the squares they have mapped become the only visible ones.
- Once clicked on a square, need to click on the 'X' to release the square Pink area over part of the project shows the priority area.
- If you have a square invalidated, you will receive a message – messages visible here. Can see all the projects you have worked on, & can click on overpass turbo link to see the nodes & ways you have contributed.
- To release the square, click on the X To begin mapping click on Start Mapping
- Note that the time is ticking down – explain the 120 minute limit
